Wtf is with people hating on the looks of LS engines ? Most stock engines look like crap. That is why aftermarket stuff exists.
|
I don't know, I kinda miss the big 14" chrome air cleaner look on these cars. Or better yet the old Edelbrock foam deep fryer cages cleaners. :sarcasm_smiley:

Thus the use of one in this project!!! But they don't LOOK like a hot rod motor. The valve covers are easy to do - or hide the coils -- BUT THAT PLASTIC INTAKE… UGH… |

Okay - this is were the rubber meets the road…. You tell me a stock 435hp tri-power doesn't look bad ass? Or a stock 440 six pack? Or maybe a dual quad hemi? Or 409? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA Batter up!! |
I'm too caught up on the body to look at the heart:unibrow:

The best stock n/a V8 motor is an AMG Black Series 6.2L with 622 fwhp.
But if it was in this car I'd cover it too. |

My 400 Pontiac in the 69 bird came stock with chrome valve covers and a matching chrome air cleaner. Along with some clean looking wire looms and cool Pontiac specific sea foam engine paint it looked pretty nice. Any performance FE cam from Ford with custom valve covers and air cleaners. The old Mecury's had Mercury himself embossed in the valve covers. The original 406 Tri Powers came with cool baldy valve covers and those cast AL oval air cleaners with the cross flag badges on the leading edge. All the cool Mopar cars and the versions of thier air grabber air cleaners and cool stickers, the Cobrajet shakers and snake valve covers, the Hemi Shakers and big chrome valve covers with the plug wires in the middle. What about the old 413 Wedge Mopars with the cross ram dual quads with the carbs 2+ ft away from each other? http://i291.photobucket.com/albums/l...ps5b1117c3.jpg How about the Buick Nailheads and Olds (I think Rocket) motors. I think if you look under the hood of any stock performance version of an old musclecar you'd see a cool looking motor. |

The most worshiped engine for hotrodders has always been the smallblock chevy until now. Now it is a LS engine. The smallblock came out in 55 and the hotrodders took it from there. The first things they did was change, intakes, valve covers, air cleaners etc in order for more performance and better looks. Same as now but some of us seem to think it is too much work. If you opened the hood of a stock 55 Chevy today you would be thinking of how the look of the engine needs some changes.......You Putz.:warning:

I've been watching this build for a while and I feel like I need to step in because none of you know what you're talking about.
THIS is the best looking hot rod engine of all time! http://jimsmower.com/bs-hori-powerbuilt.jpg |
what Greg could of done to really screw around with the Ford Guys would be install an LS engine with the front mount distributor, and have some Ford valve covers made.

Oh yeah!! I like that! |
Woah, I like that! Any more information on that build? I would love to know what the dyno runs on that motor looked like. Someday I would love to build a motor with an IR setup like that!

Actually, yes, and that's exactly what I'm thinking! Probably cheaper by the time it's all said and done too.

The passenger door needs some adjusting. Told him "I'll just take that to Frisbee and let him fix it"
That's when the fight broke out. |

Greg, the car looks great!
Got any info on the radiator....like who built it? Should have a body next week and the chassis rolled in today. Model A crossmember and a 33 radiator usually don't get along too well but it looks like that worked out good. |
