Good news Payton! Just the other day I was thinking about you actually. Been mulling over some changes and ringing in my ear is you saying, "if you are gonna be a bear ya might as well be a grizzly". :D
All these threads coming back from the dead lately making me want to revive one :underchair: John |
Lol
Too funny John!

:tv_happy: That’s the monthly winner of the Lat G pic of the month right there! |
Lets try this again
bringing the car from the back of the building and putting it back into production
Yes that is DG's turd in the background. I am using it as a parts storage shelf |
|
Now I have it figured out
Needed a little coaching
|
So the first order of business was to completely alter the front suspension. Ron Sutton redesigned the front to go with the rear suspension he had done earlier for me. Let the cutting begin. This was Jake's UCA mount shown below
https://photos.smugmug.com/photos/i-...8xmhSv2-XL.jpg And this is what Jim Pettigrew came up with. https://photos.smugmug.com/photos/i-...hd7Ffvc-XL.jpg https://photos.smugmug.com/photos/i-...jP85ZVC-XL.jpg https://photos.smugmug.com/photos/i-...WDn5jdf-XL.jpg |
If you were wondering what the cut outs in the frame are for on the right side...we moved the motor to the right side of the car 1/2 inch. The cut outs are for header clearance. Here they are finished.

I imagine Mr. Pettigrew has quite the waiting list, work like this sells itself. I just read the entire thread and have come to a couple of conclusions-
1- I don't have the time or patience to do a build like this 2- #1 is moot cause without selling a property I ain't got the pockets 3- It's fun to live through a build like this vicariously, but it sure would a blast to build a 80/20 track/street car if #1 & #2 didn't apply! |
This was supposed to be an 8 month throw together for track days...it got a little out of hand. Highly doubtful it will see much street action, but I do plan to tag it just in case.

Zat one of them Lincoln fans?
|
Wow does this look good and I love the fan mounting brackets
|
|
That is a new Spal fan. It came from Hendrick Motorsports. Hendrick now buys Spal fans, takes the motors out and makes the blade and everything else out of carbon fiber to run on their race cars.
|
|
Ran into a problem trying to package the brake res. May eventually come up with something different for access once we remake the fenders in glass...something more like a fuel door

I have an idea of who that a hole is

This is supposed to be fun and catching on fire is not fun...so fire suppression was in order. 10lbs bottle heat activated for fuel cell and 5lbs bottle cable pull for driver and engine

Instead of clicking a button, I thought I'd say thanks for taking these awesomely graphic pictures of the finer details of this build. All of these little things disappear so quickly with paint and passing at an event. There's that and the fact that I spent days scouring the internet when I was (looking for ideas for) building a backbrace; many of us here realize the research value of these efforts!
One day, we might get a personal look at the West Coast version of this car, unless you're planning a national tour . . . |
Thanks! This probably should be in the race car section, but I do plan on putting a tag on it. LOL I am posting mostly to show Jim Pettigrew's spectacular work and hoping someone might find the pictures useful in their project.
