syborg tt 04-13-2023 08:04 AM

It's all going in for the last time I hope. (( 04-01-23 ))

Here we go !!!

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...ea0fa48-me.jpg

First up is to install the Vintage Air Unit.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...a74e717-me.jpg

Since I have no hair on my head I started wearing a very thin skull cap from Headsweat. It's not a true Bump Cap so l am calling
it a Tap Cap as it gives me warning that I am about to hit my head on something.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...49751c5-me.jpg

I sprayed the drain hose with WD40 Silicone to help it slide through the floor drain grommet.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...091db8a-me.jpg

Of course the fun part is installing all of the nuts.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...977ccbe-me.jpg

It's hopefully hanging for the last time.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...956bf8c-me.jpg

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...9abaaeb-me.jpg

I double nutted the Relay's to make sure they don't fall off. I had planned to use a Nylock nut like I did on the other's but felt it might be brutal to have to remove while laying under the dash.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...e5290e8-me.jpg

I am stilling trying to decide if I am going to run the Neutral Safety Switch wiring under the carpet. However, I am going to use the Orange & White wire for my under dash lighting.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...1c44832-me.jpg

A small feeling of accomplishment

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...bb97729-me.jpg

Honey I am going in...hopefully for the last time.

Terminator X Bracket (( 04-01-23 )) Updated !!!!

Holy Crud that is a mess of wires.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...e9d4c9c-me.jpg

A long long time ago I made this really cool bracket to mount the Holley ECU and today hopefully will be the last time I hold it in my hand.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...bab536b-me.jpg

Since the top two bolts will be difficult to reach I am just going to install studs to support the ECU. I am even add wing nuts.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...cb8252c-me.jpg

Test Fitting the bracket.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...dd537d9-me.jpg

I will be using the weld studs to hold the bracket.

Modified Weld Stud

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...a3ce1e6-me.jpg

Test Fitting

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...a3f02c4-me.jpg

Removing some of the Powder Coating.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...b85e19e-me.jpg

Bonding the four studs and now it is Taco Time.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...c528d79-me.jpg

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...a7632bd-me.jpg

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...35a97a9-me.jpg

I need to shorten the studs just a little.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...d7fc493-me.jpg

Opps

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...d4cc5aa-me.jpg

Neutral Safety Switch Wiring (( 04-02-23 ))

Well, I was going to install the dash and it seems I can't find the clips !!

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...d100616-me.png

Instead I will work on the final wiring.

Always make sure you take a picture of how the wires are run.

Road Trip and Dash Pad Install (( 04-04-23 ))

Thankfully D&R Classics is close enough for me to drive to so I picked up the needed clips for the Dash Pad install. (( 04-03-23 ))

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...fb9ecef-me.jpg

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...a24adac-me.jpg

04-04-23

So this is strange the outside studs are metric and the inside studs are standard.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...024ef29-me.jpg

Not any more !!!

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...b06fb96-me.jpg

I noticed the outside edges of the leather needed some adhesive so I decided to tackle this small project and call it a night.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...e6ef1ba-me.jpg

If you don't own a pair of these I suggest you buy a pair as they will precisely cut paper and then cut thin
sheet metal. I have been using these for months and they still work like new.

One Day Later Dash Pad Install...Finally !!! (( 04-05-23 ))

This is big as the blue tape is finally coming off the metal part of the dash.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...d056188-me.jpg

I loosely installed all of the clips to make it easier to install the dash pad.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...2564328-me.jpg

Remy picture for Skip.

We all know what he is thinking "When is he going to finish this car !!! "

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...8967515-me.jpg

I gently placed the dash in the car since I will be doing it solo.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...768abb1-me.jpg

I tried to physically push the dash pad in to engage the clips and that didn't work at all. So, I moved to Plan B and removed
the all of the clips except the two middle clips. This allowed me to push the dash pad in and fell like it wasn't going to fall on
me while I laid under the dash and put the clips in and then slid the studs into the clips. It's very important not to tighten
any of the nuts till all of the clips are installed.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...db53a68-me.jpg

Well it looks like I am going to illuminate the Fasten Seat Belt Light as I like how it looks.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...d3886ec-me.jpg

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...6105b4a-me.jpg

Last few nuts are now tight and I did install Nylock nuts over the nuts to make sure they don't come loose.

Looking in where the Dash surround will be I am very happy with my wiring as it is all easily accessible.

Classic Dash Surround Holley Digital Dash & Autometer Clock (( 04-06-23 ))

It's time to make the Classic Dash surround fit into my dash area due to the leather wrap.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...54df351-me.jpg

The first thing I need to do is remove the Headlight Switch, Digital Dash and Autometer Clock.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...42974fc-me.jpg

Instead of shaving a couple millimeters off the supplied bracket I chose to install two washer. On final install a star washer
as it will prevent the bolts from coming loose.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...5e4c206-me.jpg

All parts safely stored back in the box

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...f2931b6-me.jpg

Time to start slowly trimming down the surround.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...50ad4c2-me.jpg

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...372a147-me.jpg

As you can see I removed a lot of material.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...feb614f-me.jpg

I need to enlarge the hole in the headlight switch and ended up pulling out the special drill bits to get it nice and tight.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...a4e6b3e-me.jpg

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...636e62a-me.jpg

These are the sharpest drill bits I have ever used and if you run your finger over them it will definitely cut them.
