I would imagine that you're saving 10 to 15 lbs per side of unsprung weight. The calipers and rotors are inboard but you have the extra suspension parts and control arm pivot points so it's not a pure negative moving the brakes in. Here's KUGELS answer to your "how much HP" question: It's all a function of power to weight to traction. You could have a 1,000 HP on an average street rod and the tires would break loose before anything else would break conversely. A heavier car with great traction and 400 HP will be much harder on the same rear end. Our ends use the proven 9" Ford gears. Heavy duty Corvette u-joints and castors weld steel half shafts. We just don't have any breakage problems. For extra heavy duty high HP we have custom 4-bar auto hub uprights. Here's a view of the front of this bad boy.... BTW the price of these is not for the faint of heart... You can buy a LOT of other parts for what these bring. Mine was just short of 15 grand - not installed..... http://i919.photobucket.com/albums/a...efrontview.jpg |

That is bad ass looking for sure.
15K?!:faint: |
I'm thinking a few more people might show some more "respect" when they see a hot rod with one of these rear ends in it now.... :unibrow:
Trust me -- until this 'project' -- I had no idea either! :wow: |
This is a link to the open house at SAR where the Roadster is.... Not one single pic of my poor little "woadster".... but gives those of you that are not from around "here" to see the shop.

Very nice. What a great looking shop. Clean and orderly.
I see they build all sorts of rides, but I'm guessing they are known for their "hot rod" expertise. Tons of rods there. Must be "the place to go". |

The shop is full of top notch talent.... Funny thing -- my '32 was the "first hot rod" the shop ever built.... in 1994... and here it is back there getting a minor facelift. Steve's personal '34 Dodge pickup was a great 8 Riddler car this year.... |
