Wheel Flare Redo on KLRBRD!

Been a while since we have given an update. Besides driving the Trans Am and now deciding to sell the Camaro, we sent the TA back to Dusold Designs for more aesthetic work.

We decided to redo the wheel flares and fix a few small dents on the lower part of the passenger door. The dents resulted from hitting the timing gear at a local autocross during a spin out at an event last May. We have not been happy with the fit of the flares since we got the car back together so we decided to have brackets fabricated to mount the carbon fiber flares, eliminate the welting and form fit them to the fenders. They will retain a seam as original but we are going to modify the flare to fit snug to the fender. We are respraying them cameo white and adding 3m protective film. We are excited to have this done. It has been a sore subject for Amy aesthetically. I will post some pics once we get the updates from the shop.

In addition, we are having the window trim removed, restored, new clips and them polished for a cleaner look.

As it relates to suspension, we are going to change the spring rate on the rear shocks from 225's to 400's. This will make the rear end more predictable and reduce the loading from side to side we experience. We have never liked the "feel" of the rear of the car. Always felt loose and wallowy when driven aggressively. It will require some dial in time with the triple adjustables but we have a number of events coming up starting in March to get it sorted.

Look for pics soon.

I take it both of you will be driving this one after the sale of the 69? Or will you be upgrading to a Maverick? LOL

The Trans Am will be doing double duty. I talked Amy into letting me drive. We will see how long that lasts! HA!

What flares are those?

Greg, no kidding. Not sure the "3M protect-o-bag" will pass inspection tho at the USCA event to keep the rocks off the new paint during the road rally segment.

The flares are from Carbon Kustoms. We are modifying them to follow the contour of the fenders.

Ah, I am hoping to find something that matches already... starting to look like I need to make my own. :lostmarbles:
