Very cool that SAR will get the issues squared away and that you will have the car for the show.
ENJOY!! Car looks great Greg.  |
A VERY smart move on SAR's part.....

Mario -- Note the deleted posts from me. I think we're going steady again.
Listen - everyone in the industry knows this is a top notch shop. I know that or it wouldn't have gone there in the first place. Sometimes "stuff" happens... sometimes you cause the "stuff" to happen. It's how you deal with the "stuff" that happens that's MOST important to me. I reamed a couple new ones yesterday -- I didn't like the response... so my reamer gets larger... and it starts looking for new holes to ream.... but in the end... the situation has been diffused (and I know a thing or two about fuses and blowing stuff up) the correct way. YOU and I are on the same page... I'm the easiest customer in the whole wide world...give me the best money can buy... on time... right... and if you have a kool idea talk to me... and let's do it! I do this stuff most every day -- I KNOW what it takes. Nobody needs to explain it to me... I've been there done that -- and in some cases more than the guy doing it. So hours are hours and if you want the best of the best - then that takes TIME. I get it. But with that attitude there comes a price... it better be right on the money honey. If I wanted it F'd up - I'd do that myself! :_paranoid Trust me... I've done more of that - than I've done things right. I also get that part of a build. No biggie. I can tell you that the car has a quality that you don't get in the average build of a '32. I'm not saying that because it's mine. I've seen lots and lots of these cars and there are quality cars that just exude a certain "look and feel". This has a quality look that even if you don't like the styling - you'll still agree that it's top notch shizell...that's what you get out of a Foose... Ring Brothers... Bobby Alloway... S.A.R... Roadster Shop... Brizio. The home guys just can't quite get that 'look' -- and I don't even know what that is but you know it when you see it. I only wish I could build 'em like that here in the shed... but a man has to know his limitations. :willy: The 'issues' with this car are minor in nature -- but they "stack up" -- nothing major... nothing that isn't fixable in a very short order... but the shop has to be WILLING to go an extra mile in the end. And in the end S.A.R has stepped up to the plate. :woot: |
You tell um Clint! lol Glad its going to be ready for you for Pleasenton. I know you were counting on going.

Sounds like whatever you did and said Greg... it worked.

I had to laugh at that comment... my Nomad has had two chassis... 4 or 5 motors... carbed - TB injected - and 8 stacks - and a couple trannys. Once I did all the A/C with polished SS hard lines (ask me how that worked out  )... Quote:
In their defense... I forced them to let the car go before they had time to complete ANY shake down miles.... in my defense... The car was DUE May 1st for a planned trip on May 11th. If you (meaning ANYONE) work for me - regardless if it's a house remodel or a yard mowing job. A date is a date... and you'd better know that date is written and agreed upon for a reason. I do what I say I'm going to do... I expect the same in return. Super super simple. I've built many many projects - 99% of them with my own hands... I've NEVER EVER had the issues this car had. EVER. I did run out of gas once in the Nomad on the way to a GoodGuys show... after putting on the Imagine Injection 8 stack system. I had drained the tank and had added 5 gallons of fuel for tuning purposes. Got up early AM - washed the car - and proudly headed south... it burped and sputtered... and I'm running thru which wire that could be... and did I chafe one or burn something on the header etc... 'bout that time she just fell on her face. DOH! A tow truck is called... and after loading her up and strapping ourselves in the cab he says "so what happened?" As I'm explaining it - it dawns on me exactly what happened. I said - go down to the next exit and pull into that Chevron station. Filled up - backed the car off the rollback and hit the show. To this day - my "buddies" first question when we head out.... "YOU HAVE GAS"? I truly hate them... |

OH MAN the FN brand new fuel pump probably just calved!!!! woops GOT GAS? hey that will fit on ur next license plate |

so much... Seems that SS line got nice and frosty - problem is - it wasn't frosty by the time it got inside the compartment were I was. Call it -- on the job training. |
Just wanted to thank STEVE @ HRBS and KENNY DAVIS.... for costing me a few more grand....
The motor has been pulled out of the '32 - which means the radiator and grill shell and on and on had to come out... just so we could..... HAVE THE F'N' HEADS PAINTED.... :willy: :wow:   :woot: |

Advise is free. What you do with it is your problem.   |
I'll argue ad infinitum if I think I'm right.... (is it an 8 second car if it ran an 8.99? Remember that thread?) LOL
BUT -- I'll freely admit when I'm wrong and will take action if required to make it right. YOU guys were right. :D |
The painted heads should help to keep the attention on those awesome headers. I guess I don't mind them gray, but can see how it will make an improvement.
Jim had a good suggestion with the fuel pump block off plate. However, with the heads painted I'm starting wonder if it would stick out too much. |
Painting the heads is the right choice. And it will help showcase the 8 stack!
BTW, I'm still waiting for my ride........;) |

I've been down that road many times. This is just a new form of peir pressure. Man in high school it was drinking and now on the BB forums it's you gotta do this if you do that. Heck Steve I saw your washer and I said "W0W" I gotta get me some of them. It's like a dangling carrrot - it's just to hard to say no. |

Am I really going to be the first to comment on the phallic symbol ? |

They didn't mess around. At 8:30am motor was still in car and had headers on it. what time did you get the pictures?
|
I got the photos around 12 ish -- and when Chuck called to ask about swapping out the Rattler balancer for the Fluid Damper version -- they had already painted it and were letting it cure...
Anyone know why they call a balancer "The Rattler"? :woot: |
you mean 12

having stuff done "pro built" ain't for the light of wallet, or faint of heart. :D  |
So, Greg........ Now that this project is virtually done (by painting the heads that should have been painted the first time around! [K.D.]), what is your "next" project?

I have a '37 Ford - Minotti body 3 window coupe - and I already had the chassis custom built (a year or more ago) - LS6 (probably won't use it but buy a new LS3 or ? - will get 8 stack or blower... was going to be an automatic for cruising - has a Ford 9" on inboard mounted leaf springs and the chassis was C notched for low ride... It's going to be PPG Barcelona Blue (have posted a '32 that is the correct color)... and Recovery room interior... :woot: Here's the butt ugly hump as it is - the way I bought it for a complete do over project. Some pretty ugly stuff comes out of BAKERSFIELD I can tell ya! http://i919.photobucket.com/albums/a...i/100_1760.jpg Here's the color it will be painted. http://i919.photobucket.com/albums/a...i/IMG_0873.jpg And here's an interior idea I've been slobbering over for a couple years..... http://i919.photobucket.com/albums/a...a950b735_o.jpg And here's the chassis I had built for it..... http://i919.photobucket.com/albums/a...i/IMG_0773.jpg And if you look closely - you can see the chassis as it is now.... :unibrow: :D http://i919.photobucket.com/albums/a...x/IMG_1292.jpg |
Uh, Greg....I think you just hijacked your own thread! Oh, and thanks BTW. That car in that color's gonna be great, seriously!
I think you're gonna need a bigger garage tho...:hail: |
Quote:
Are you allowed to jack your own thread? I don't know... doesn't sound right though does it?! Same thing Charley told me.... about the garage space. |

The floor space is fine, he just needs taller walls.......:D
Greg, you told me once but I don't remember who built that chassis? |

RattlerŽ are steel rollers that fit loosely into a specific number of holes. By using an exact mathematical relationship, the rollers will roll forward during compression strokes and roll backward during the power stroke to keep the engine speed variations and vibration, to a minimum. The only time you may hear the RattlerŽ is when starting and stopping the engine. When you hear the slight "click" you know the RattlerŽ is ready to work. The slight noise could have been eliminated but TCIŽ decided to keep it as a distinguishing trademark. I had one on my old 383 in the El Camino, I did notice that the engine ran smoother and had less vibration, there pricey but do what there supposed to I guess. Love the new updates Greg, any other new goodies coming or changing? -Jim |
And if you look closely - you can see the chassis as it is now....
Whats that bench racin wheelstand style ?? lol Greg how about a second floor with an elevator for the finnished projects for more room. |
