Congrats bro--that's impressive with everything you had working against you--especially on the autocross---leaf springs and cal tracs work just fine evidently---as does the stock front subframe---nicely done dude. Throw out that posi and I will really respect you---

Dude.. talked about a lot with next to nothin. Your times are ridiculous for that bucket of bolts lowrider you're driving with unicycle tires. Unreal.

I am anxious... and scared... for the day you put those parts in.

And much thanks for the party and the cake for our engagements. That was really cool of you and Cassie and we really appreciate it bro. You're alright Mr Renner...

Excellent Job...

I wish I was there to see it.. Well Done

I may not make Pleasanton because it is so small. I may try to make a Marina event.they look to be higher speeds.

I have no idea how my carbed SBC will do, but I am itching to find out...Let the redline begin..

Me too! The car needs more work before I can do anything like that, hopefully sometime in the near future.

I need to start by attending one of these events to check things out.

Matt@BOS 03-16-2012 08:57 AM

Will you be up in Pleasonton trying to blow your engine up one last time? I can't remember if you said you were going to be there or not. I may try to make it up.

Matt

Thanks Mike. I don't blame you on GG... I doubt it would be my preferred first autoX if I got to choose... Marina is more wide open and less hectic.

Glad to see you will be getting out there soon!

Matt

I was leaning toward trying it, but it now appears I toasted the pressure plate too so I am pretty undrivable at the moment with 2 of the 3 key components of the drivetrain not working properly... (ya think?)

Looks like I'll be a spectator over there this time...

DG1 (and only) Dude nice times while driving a big band aid! Crazy to think "what could of been" on a 100% car. Theres always next year. :D Well done brotha'. Team RTC baby :woot:

sik68 03-16-2012 12:40 PM

Dave, how fast are you going to get that BMF back up and running? It's going to be a beast. Giving any thought to bumping up the compression and running some triple digit octane?

Scotty - thanks, and so glad you made it bro.. it was a blast and so much fun with the whole RTC crew there. I am so glad your car and Eric's made it strong thru the weekend. Your car was a beast and you (and Frankie) did very well for your first outing. The car is tits man. Can't wait til we get out again somewhere...

Well, the motor plans are being concocted immediately.. not sure on timeframe... got a few more parts to procure... and the engine builder to lock down... Todd's step-brother Pettis would be on the list but I really want to keep this vendor local. I'm done with long distance vendors if I can help it... here is my short list of local engine guys:

http://www.watsonracingengineering.com/
http://www.lewisracingengines.com
http://topofthehillpc.com/
http://www.yelp.com/biz/robert-canci...chine-san-jose (built Karl Chicca's current motor)

You got any other good leads?

And I still wanna go pump gas for street driving and to maintain some sort of identification with "pro touring".. :unibrow:

Vegas69 03-17-2012 07:38 AM

I've heard good things about Lewis from Jody and the guys on Chevelles.com. He does tend to be a little backed up though. I'm with you on keeping things as close as possible.

GregWeld 03-17-2012 08:08 AM

DG1 (and only) <--------- this is obviously a SWEET SUE influenced referrence.

Sent you mail... My motor in the Mustang - and several of Charley's race car motors were built at TOE Performance (Tony Odo) in Suisan, CA

Well it appears that my roller lifters need to be replaced so hoping to do that in a few months, but also feel that I would need to change my oil pan to a RR pan before I did any kind of hard cornering. Some other concerns as well but have "home" priorities right now so those things need to wait

But yea would love to be able to get out and beat on it

Yep I've traded many emails with Mike (Lewis) in recent months. Great guy and super detail oriented and communicates well (a lost art). But, he is up in the boonies about 3 hrs north of me... but a possibility.

It'll be a tough call.... Watson Racing did a bunch of the work on my current motor for the previous owner and I had a good hour talk with him recently too. And that thing has held up well!

I didn't realize Odo was local... I don't want to go all out hardcore race but he still might be an option and Suisun is only 1 hour from me.

Notice Tom said DZ302 'cheater'... only the rumble of the cubes gives that away!

Yeah, that was a walk down memory lane. Notice the 4bys and motorcycles when he made the left (on Plummer St)? That's where I got my influences from...along w beer drinking :D Many moons ago we used to race on the first street in the vid (Winnekta St)

He's got various vids on YT of that motor making anywheres from 1150 or so to 1750 hp IIRC.

Lot's of great small industry in the area and a hobbiest's dream. Everything from small paint shops, machine shops, specialty manufacturing, etc.

I figured you srpung up from there Jerry! Marc @ Bent is not too far also.

Yeah I know who Cres is... he's friends with Rich... he did some work on my heads last winter... the work was fine... but I was told about a price he did a very simple 383 stroker motor for someone recently... and that was the end of it for me. :)

I have found my engine builder and the guy is legit and local to me (Gilroy is not very local to me -- it's just where my car lives ).

My new engine build has commenced... and I'll be posting details soon.

Another BBQ needs to happen soon at RTC I agree!
