:D Greg, you get wood on the ball once and a while. He said the mig welds were dirty and he had a spray bottle handy. :lol: It takes alot of finess to weld an 1/8" plate to .003 thick frame rails! If I ever build another, frame rails will be on the short list. These babies were cherry. I can't imagine some of the rails running around out there.

I think you mean .030 thick, LOL! Even so, they are indeed pretty thin, and the way they are stamped makes the thickness vary all over the place.

In all seriousness, they are probably .0625.

She's all patched up with 15 hours of repair. :willy: Jim did a fantastic job for me. Well worth the dinero. He used his break and formed the brackets so he could weld them to the cradle(away from the mig weld)and distribute some force over multiple points. It's not exactly how I planned but I gave him free reign since he was doing the fabrication. ;)

Got her back yesterday at 4 O'clock and went out and played with the proportioning valve a little and gave it a little hell to see how the repair felt. Brakes were incdredbile(got that light feeling) and the car just felt great doing some slalom. If I break this repair, it's time to back half the car. I'll be happy with equal service life to the original.

I'm happy to have a shope about 3 miles from the house with some REAL experience. :thumbsup:

I washed her up last night and laid a fresh coat of wax. Our water is so flipping hard, I HATE actually washing the car. I wash it, dry it, wipe it down with detailer, then I can wax it. I've tried the Mr. Clean deal and it helps but doesn't eliminate the problem. They don't call us the granite State for nothing.

Hey -- Hard water? Get yourself a deionizer... Used to use that on the big boat. Kept the varnished teak rails all purdy... and the spots off the gelcoat. No drying - just wash it - then RINSE with the deionized water. It's the way all the big ballers roll. Surprised you don't have one! :unibrow:

I've got a water softener on the house and the previous owner actually ran cold and hot to the corner of the garage from the hot water heater. I'm just to damn dense to remember to get a flippin hose since I wash it about three times a year. (I'd rather bitch and moan):D
