Yes...on one side the frame rail split where bracket mounts (welded not bolted in) and on the other side the Airbar separated from the UCA mount plate.

Similar to this I assume. Before we installed mine I spoke with my chassis guy and he suggested a few stitch welds. He felt the full weld was the cause of the failure. And also the obvious fact that the rail was never designed to carry such a load. http://tapatalk.imageshack.com/v2/15...36c931720b.jpg http://tapatalk.imageshack.com/v2/15...bef3ab478a.jpg Marty-MJ www.garagescene.net |

yeah, when welding them in you want to avoid the corner of the frame rail. I use the bolts and then run a few 1" beads on the flats only.

Klrbrd
Been a few months since an update. KLRBRD is a completely different vehicle with the new suspension. The guys at Dusold Designs did an incredible job. I drove it for the first time on Sunday since Mike delivered it to Amy at the Optima Search for the Ultimate Streetcar event at Texas Motor Speedway at the end of March. Thanks to Kaleb Kelley for taking some kicka$$ pics of the car during the event and for the guys at ProTouring Magazine for putting a pic of the car in the Premiere issue.

Columbus GoodGuys Event
Damn! It has been over a year since my last post. We moved from Dallas, Texas to Columbus, Ohio. My wife quit her job and started/built a bakery...Nothing Bundt Cakes Columbus-Gahanna. My consulting business was relocated to Columbus. We built a house. (STOOPID!!) And through it all we remained married and look back on the transition and laugh as we drink some wine for sanity sake.
This past weekend we attended the Columbus GoodGuys event. I grew up in Columbus and use to go to the show as a kid. This was the first time I had taken a car to "The Big One" and man was it a BLAST. We ran some autocross, saw some awesome builds and reconnected with a bunch of old friends, making some new ones in the process. Here are some pics and videos of KLRBRD from the weekend. http://i1372.photobucket.com/albums/...s2lvsyxyu.jpeg http://i1372.photobucket.com/albums/...pshfukbuao.jpg http://i1372.photobucket.com/albums/...psjs0ea5zd.jpg http://i1372.photobucket.com/albums/...psknxkyvm4.jpg http://i1372.photobucket.com/albums/...psqmpttp5j.jpg http://i1372.photobucket.com/albums/...ps2vg5xzkg.jpg |
A few videos from the Columbus GoodGuys autocross this past weekend.
This is the first time we had the car on any type of track since last March and the first time I have drive the Trans Am at an event. I finished up 16th out of 52 Street Machine participants. Not bad and not good but the fun factor was a 200 on a a scale of 0 to 100. Amy and I had a blast! Special thanks to Mike Dusold from Dusold Designs for helping me knock the rust off my driving skills and encouraging me to "Go Faster!". http://i1372.photobucket.com/albums/...psstbl8oqa.mp4 http://i1372.photobucket.com/albums/...psosxtzwcl.mp4 http://i1372.photobucket.com/albums/...psadok2pfn.mp4 http://i1372.photobucket.com/albums/...psy87voebp.mp4 |
What a beauty Jay!! Welcome back home!
|
Glad to hear you're doing well, Jay. Congrats on making a successful transition to Columbus

Kind of a weird question, but is your dash board white? I am building a 69 Trans Am clone and I painted the 10-point cage and the dash white. I'm wondering if the top of the dash being white will cause windshield glare when driving?
