Now the party starts!
http://thegmr.com/wp-content/uploads.../step-five.jpg Using the GMR9-TX system we can put the GMR full -floater on any setup and housing. Notice to install the new floater we only had to cut the ends off where the original flanged piece was welded. Thus we did not have to trim any more then the flanged ends off, leaving all the brackets and brake line plumbing in place. http://thegmr.com/wp-content/uploads...step-seven.jpg http://thegmr.com/wp-content/uploads...4/step-six.jpg http://thegmr.com/wp-content/uploads.../step-nine.jpg http://thegmr.com/wp-content/uploads...04/step-10.jpg http://thegmr.com/wp-content/uploads...04/step-13.jpg http://thegmr.com/wp-content/uploads...04/step-15.jpg Jason |
Here is something that you guys might find interesting!
What we took off the rear end, flanged axle with 31 spline http://thegmr.com/wp-content/uploads...04/step-12.jpg What we are putting on with upgrade to floater and 35 spline! http://thegmr.com/wp-content/uploads...04/step-14.jpg (these are nova axles, the units we are using are about 2.5 pounds heaver but they are still at machine right now, were closer to a 50.8 lb situation) Jason |
Something wasn't set up right IMO. Your rear end was whining and you mention the axles flanges bumping into the seals.
I totally agree that these cars need a floater, corvette hub, or floating caliper. Fixed calipers on a tapered or roller bearing rearend, DON'T work. |
Started on the caliper mounts...

GMR -6 stainless fitting welded on the housing per the specifications given by Cris. http://thegmr.com/wp-content/uploads...ne-fitting.jpg Jason |
This is such a nice, well thought out piece. Nice work Jason.
Welding seems acceptable:lol: And now I have rearend envy, DAMN this site. |
yup those weld suck!

That's the nicest diff jig I've ever seen. Very, very nice setup you guys have.
Shocked that the rotors did that. Must have been a lot of play to deflect to the point of failure with a rotor. |

Nice job on the pics. |

Either way you turn it, they are both cool. 68's are my favorite year Camaro and I like the D90 stripe and who doesn't like a Yenko?

I tell my Mom they make me feel funny and I see things, but she insists they give me my edge. |
Well I just finished putting 200 miles on the new rear end on new GMR floater... I want to thank The GMR for getting this upgrade to the car done ASAP for BB.. We got a new Wave track unit, Moser Aluminum case & 4.10 gears... The car should rip thru the Auto-x in second gear just fine... When we hit 6th gear.. it is doing about 2200 RPM @ 65 MPH... At Delmar Brian was driving the car in first gear.. The engine has such a nice power band to it..
Karl is in Vegas this week racing Z06 Corvettes without me! But will be joining him out their on Thurday for some fun with BB.. :D http://i1015.photobucket.com/albums/...n/IMG_2344.jpg |

That setup looks amazing. The car should work really nice. Karl is getting a killer car. I am looking forward to giving Blu Balz another run. See you in a couple days! :D |
See ya in few days! First round is on me... Maybe we will invite Todd... he will show up in a little "RED" Corvette..

I told you on what steps I would take to make a decision, and I did follow through on that process. Based on that, I will not be contracting with JCG. I would ask that you respect my wishes not to be contacted any further. Thank you. |

Skip- I want to thank for the opportunity of entertaining this build with JCG… Good luck with whomever you choose to build this concept of a car for you.. & respect your form of basing a decision to move forward.. I too use it daily to run my business..
As for contacting you.. Understood… but maybe I am reading into this the wrong way… but it makes me sound like I have been soliciting you to build this car… Which I have not.. I have not had discussions with you since December 2011 on the subject.. I personally feel that you could have relayed this information thru e-mail as you have in the past.. but as I have stated.. Good luck on your journey with this build! Quote:

Cris,
I've gotten plenty of support from members here regarding my post yesterday. As you know, I let you (and a few other members) see my Yenko PT style clone design concept privately on 12/05/11. You remember too that several months earlier I contacted you because I needed a shop to widen it. (Minor point, but I see you also had Ben incorporate my idea last year of using the '67 Yenko Stinger hood). http://i87.photobucket.com/albums/k1...ro/camarov.jpg Then you sent me the below on 01-03-12 at 3:19 pm EST and although I liked it, I said I wasn't ready to commit to having you build me one. Less than 2 hours later you posted it. You never told me you were going to post what you sent to me. What I said was I wouldn't post it. I never gave you permission to post my design concept publicly. So at least twice this year you've used other lat-g members design concepts. Some on here may agree with you doing that, while others obviously don't. But when you do that, I hope you're not surprised there is push back from lat-g members. So while I disagree with your decision to post my design concept without my permission, and believe different methods will bring you lasting success, I'm moving on. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 01-03-2012, 05:00 PM Yenko version of BB! I had Ben do this for me to see how a Yenko theme 68 Camaro of BB would look like! I really like the way Ben carried over the hump of the Stinger too the header panel! http://i87.photobucket.com/albums/k1...ro/yenkofr.jpg http://i1015.photobucket.com/albums/...ennkofront.jpg __________________ Cris Gonzalez [email protected] WE BUILD THEM TO DRIVE THEM! http://www.jcgrestorationandcustoms.com/ Last edited by Gonzo : 01-03-2012 at 05:05 PM. https://lateral-g.net/forums/imag...tons/quote.gif |
Skip- I used a rendering that belongs to Karl & JCG for a “ YENKO THEME” version of BB… I paid Ben to do this for me to see what it would look like because of your inquire for us to build you a semi version of BB in Yenko theme.. I consider these cars theme cars.. Not gonna be the first somebody builds a clone Yenko Camaro.. especially in PT format… Karl has been ok with me incorporating some of the designs we did for his cars with other builds here @ the shop & with people that have PM’ed with request on tail lights & interior dash… I have gone as far as e-mailing pics on how we did the work..
You have been emailing since Oct 2010 about some ideas but have never pulled the trigger to build anything… IMO.. this is not a design that is being duplicated… It is theme that has been duplicated for years.. but you wanted it to be wide version of it… Which JCG has been doing for a couple of years now.. I don’t think I have ever mentioned to anybody that you were inquiring with us to build this theme car… but other than post a rendering that belongs to JCG.. IMO.. I don’t need your permission to post a rendering of what belongs to us… but should have thought about it more before I did… & for that I apologize I will no longer comment about this subject… as for other design concepts that we are doing that simulate other builds.. I will continue to do as a customer asks.. I get ideas from customers e-mailed to me to get their point across on what they want us to build.. In the long run our work speaks for itself.. We do commit errors around here but in the end we do the best we can to correct them.. Quote:

Jeez sounds like much ado about nothing to me . . .

All I know is I like the original pic of the real 68 with the redline tires. Very nice!!!!!!!

Defining intellectual property has been keeping lawyers rich for many years. That argument has also ruined many a friendship, partnership, and some marriages. Absolutely no good will come from this. In my humble opinion (worth less than 2 cents) it is more often about ego than a tangible idea.
Best of luck to all involved. Jeff- |
