You mean the guy w lightening quick reflexes, a little quirky/somewhat mean streak and never loses? Yeah, that might have something to do w it. Throw in a dash of Dirty Harry, a metaphor for the competition and where my car started out and that pretty much sums it up...

Seriously though - nice work Brett and glad you are "practicing" on Ron's cage first  .

Are you guys kidding me? I wish I had a chick magnet. I've tried boats, motorcycles, exotic and muscle cars...I'm so damn funny looking nothing works and only barely get by on personality cause that's all I got! Besides, the Lithuanian GF would cut off the family jewels if I ever used the back seat for anything else. :D Only thing going on back there is briefcases, computer or kids soccer equipment and tools.

I'll bet somebody here knows...try us. Guys around know some things I would have never known in a million years. That's what makes this the best site.

Just paint your next car a deep red, or purple

Actually don't, the consequences might be severe.

Top notch, Grade "A" work right there. The suspense and anticipation of seeing this thing finished is killing me. So, I know it has got to be getting to you too Ron, huh? :hail: :hail:

DFRESH 06-10-2012 12:43 PM

Start off doing a couple tow hooks, then a trans install with some press in a mag and look what happens.

ROCKSTAR.

Don't get so big that you can no longer install the torque arm bro.

Looks great--love the down bars and the details on the rollbar setup.

67ragtp 06-10-2012 02:18 PM

those joint pieces for the cross bar and harness mount are pretty trick, top quality work going on here.

Oh and its just called a 'Ute' guys no y at the start, mine has ls1 and t56, some of the later models stepped up to ls2's and now 3's, the latest ones are pretty much the same shape as what we sent over there as a potiac g8

DOOM 06-11-2012 06:16 AM

Nice finish work, they look like they were a solid bar that had the ends machined. It looks Sweet Ron.

what size disconnects did you use and where did you get them? I need 1.5" ones.

GregWeld 06-11-2012 02:25 PM

That's work as it should be! Nice job!

Ron in SoCal 06-11-2012 02:40 PM

Hey Mike - these are my favorite and come in 1 1/2":

http://www.ballisticfabrication.com/...mp_p_1467.html

or http://www.trail-gear.com/miscellaneous

Brett wanted to use exact 1 5/8" O.D. (DSE size) to do the metal finish work, so I got these:

http://www.camburg.com/store/fabrica...t-tube-clamps/

tones2SS 06-11-2012 06:07 PM

Awesome. Looking good.

Vince@Meanstreets 06-11-2012 06:12 PM

Looks good guys but I'm not a big fan of finish grinding welding cage components or joints but can be done safely if the proper technique is used.

That ship has sailed once you start using removable bars IMO.

Vince@Meanstreets 06-11-2012 06:28 PM

True, good point

Just a little follow up to the prior post before I go onto the next punch list item for Ron.

Now that the seat belt bar and cross brace are completely fitted, I took them out for final TIG welding of the disconnect joints. After TIG welding the joints, they were ground down and metal finished.

http://i1113.photobucket.com/albums/...o/IMG_3348.jpg

I don't mind TIG weld beads exposed on most completed work pieces that I do. However, there were going to be 3 welds in a row with the disconnect joints installed. This is a high visible portion of the car, So I thought a little metal finishing would go along way in the looks department here.

http://i1113.photobucket.com/albums/...o/IMG_3350.jpg

Now the completely finished bars can be put back into position within the DSE roll bar and final welding completed.

http://i1113.photobucket.com/albums/...o/IMG_3352.jpg

Thanks for all the compliments and thanks for the interest in my work at Fab53.

Next item on the punch list that will be posted will be the modifications to Dead Pool's rear bumper.

that is some excellent work, ron still waiting to go see it, promise no pictures:hail: :hail:
