That is the plan. A few late nights left to get it done... and more packages from UPS

:ups:

Seems like I have a $100 dollar a day habit with Summit.

Yeah right? :headspin: I remember when we were finishing up a project for a show years back and the CC was smoking!! Every order seemed to be $500 plus at a crack and sometimes a couple a day. :ups:

Yeah I too fully expected an LT1 based build in this car. Soon enough I guess... :)

WSSix 09-08-2014 07:26 PM

He started building this car and engine before the new LT motors were released.

Good luck making SEMA, Mark.

Hubs?

Hey Mark.
I think the hubs you had on the car before were 33 spline with the wheel speed sensor for the early style C6 ABS, is that correct?
I'm not sure if you still have them, if you do would you be interested in selling them?
PM me if you are.

Thanks.

Keith Quinn.

Yep, its not high dollar stuff that does it too, its the time, planning and detail that makes this build great.

mitch_04 09-12-2014 06:20 PM

It's a catch-22 thread. It makes me sad because I'll never build a car this nice, or even be capable of such quality. However, it also inspires me to get in the garage and do my best using whats available to me. Someday....

camcojb 09-14-2014 02:30 PM

It runs!!

Beauty and the Beast right there....Should be called "red", gets finer with age.

Stielow 09-15-2014 06:03 AM

Another long weekend but it is running and the wiring is close to being done.

I finished the oil fill / dip stick for the hidden dry sump tank.

http://i439.photobucket.com/albums/q...ps56bdc837.jpg

The main wiring is done and all that is left is the dash connector.

http://i439.photobucket.com/albums/q...ps543c0f3a.jpg

A lot of Zip ties died in the process

http://i439.photobucket.com/albums/q...ps8688cb26.jpg

The engine plumbing is turning out well

http://i439.photobucket.com/albums/q...ps66d15031.jpg

The car is off to Sled Alley tomorrow for Matt to hammer out the interior. I have a GM business trip for a week so when I get home the inerior should be done.

I wanted to drive the car into Matt's and I can!

The wiring looks so cool. Nice neat tidy - really looks way better then under the dash of the original harness from GM in the day. Something to strive for in our own builds.

Gordon thanks for the photo. We drove Hellfire up on the trailer under its own power! The new Centerforce clutch is easy to modulate even sitting on a milk crate. If I would have had a real seat in it I could have cruised the neighborhood to show my new neighbros what a red neck I really am. Just to seal the deal after firing the car at 2 AM.

The car is off to Sled Alley for a week and a half to get the glass and interior done. I have to be out of town on GM business so Matt will keep it moving.

Then the Dutchboys come over on Sept 27 to put the front end on the car and it should be close to driving.

Mark

1coolC2 09-16-2014 04:23 AM

Mark,

Does that milk crate have a slot for the 5th point of your harness??? :D Car looks awesome, can't wait to see it at SEMA/OPTIMA!!

Vision

You can really see the vision you had for this build in this pic Mark! That red against the wheel color and the exposed carbon fiber is going to look fantastic!!

Can't wait to see it all button up with the front clip on the car!

btw where's the link to that shop cam we talked about?!?

So is it neighbros or neighbors in your neck of the woods? :D

Jody needs to add spell check to his site.... I'm an engineer so my spelling is lacking.

HEY!! He's "the god" of Pro Touring --- EVERYBODY wants to be his friend... so it's only right that they be neighbros.

I edit a fair amount of spelling errors behind the scenes.......but neighbros is in the Urban Dictionary. :D

Mark

If I was one of your new neighbors I'd have a Barcalounger in the front yard and a tub of popcorn ready whenever I heard a car fire up behind your house!

Congratulations on another awesome build. I've been following your builds since the White one lap car in the early 90's. I can't recall the magazine but there was a pic of your car in front of the CPC sign on Vandyke. Talk about a throwback. My last job before I left for Florida I was at the VEC as a Service Engineer for Interior trim.

Anyway I am getting ready to start my build on my DD '87 Caprice and I am wondering if you have made any mods to the trunk floor for fuel pump access, or do you simply service the pumps by dropping the tank? I know some builders/owners do and most don't. I don't mind dropping the tank but if it makes sense I'll consider it.

Thanks
Todd

syborg tt 09-19-2014 12:11 PM

Gordon,

Thank you for posting the pic - but seriously Gordon we need more pics of your car.
