I was using GM fluid last time. Dustin at Wilwood keeps telling me that you need to bleed the brakes before every event. The speed stop challenges is the only place I've experienced any issues. I really think it's a combination of back to back runs and very little cooloing due to no speed like on a road course.
Who needs shock travel with 700 springs. Ha Ha |
Glad to see you got everything back together and running. I wish I had a 1/4 of your mechanic skills, as always, nice work man.

Whats shock travel? As long as I still haven't rattled the teeth out of my gums I figure I'm still good.
And who needs a bump stop when you have a solid sway bar for a stop  |
Kelli and I took the car for a ride out to Callville Bay this moring for breakfast. I needed to scuff in the new rubber for my up coming races anyway, right. :D I also did a mini desert hail mary this evening. All and all, I racked up over 100 miles today.
I've been busy getting the car ready for my SCCA event next Sunday and the road race in Buttonwillow on the 17th. I can't seem to leave anything alone. I always end up tweaking this and that before most events. My dad's an engineer, it's his fault for passing along those genes  All the hardwork is definitely paying off. My desert hail mary allowed me to really bang some gears tonight. I made a small clutch adjustment. My tko 600 is now t56 esque. It's sharp and I'm actually pretty happy with it. 2nd ain't perfect but it's a HELL of a lot better. Between that and the aluminum flywheel, it's a night and day difference. One interesting thing is the car is getting out of the hole better. I noticed it before swapping tires so I'm thinking the aluminum flywheel isn't hitting the tires as hard. I've got 600 ftlbs at 3500 rpm, I can't make any other sense of it. I bled the brakes out with the wilwood 600 fluid. The front fluid was indeed cooked from the Fontana event last month. Brakes are high and very good now. I checked the alignment and everything is good to go.... 1/16 toe in and top secret camber. HA HA http://i200.photobucket.com/albums/a...1969/004-2.jpg I changed out the springs 6, 9, 12 months ago and never corner weighted the car. A friend and client in the SCCA was nice enough to lend me his scales again. The good news is she's lost about 44 lbs since I last scaled her. At first I thought the scales had a problem. I knew I'd lost 16lbs with the flywheel change, but where the hell did the rest of the weight go? It's the brake change. I lost a considerable amount of weight and rotating mass when I switched to my floating caliper set up. Since the front brakes overheated in the speed stop challenge and the rear fluid was brand new, I still feel that it was a good decision. Buttonwillow may change that but I doubt it. Anyway, lowered the rear of the car about .25" before I scaled it. I've put the car thought hell and back and my indicators showed over .25 to spare. I ended up needing to sping the RF coil over up 4 full turns and the LR 2 full turns to get a PERFECT 50/50 cross weight. :D Car's lower than ever, has more meat, and no rubs that I'm aware of. I can't wait to get her off road and see what she's got! This is how my corner weight started...(Me in the car) http://i200.photobucket.com/albums/a...1969/014-2.jpg After multiple adjustments: (Me in the car) Two more gallons of gas..(Full Tank) http://i200.photobucket.com/albums/a...1969/029-1.jpg Weight without me... http://i200.photobucket.com/albums/a...1969/030-1.jpg http://i200.photobucket.com/albums/a...1969/005-6.jpg http://i200.photobucket.com/albums/a...ck1969/017.jpg |
Put that fatty on a diet! :D
Lookin good man... you might be a force to be reckoned with in 2 weeks... :unibrow: |
Todd,
Your car looks great. It's one of my favorites on the site. How is the ground clearance with the car sitting that low? Any clearance issues with the headers? Thanks, Mike |

I think you need an Anvil CF hood HA! And maybe the inners to match.
Looks good Todd. Good luck at the events. |
