Here is an in car video I took of my road course run. My best lap was my first timed lap, lap #2. The tires were getting a bit hot and greasy after lap 2. I also overshot corner #3 on lap 3. The sun was getting low and it was very hard to pick up any braking points. The rear end was locking up due to too much rear brake bias. I had more dialed in for the autocross and forgot to adjust it for the road course. I love this track and hope to drive it again.

Great video. Very cool watching you run the car all out. As a spectator I've seen you at the Mather and Goodguys autocross but it's a much diffent perspecitve to see inside the car, on a big course with no traffic during a competition. :hail:

Brian,

As always... it was great to see you and your Dad again. Amazing car - amazing driving...

#2 was only a hair splitting distance from being #1.... you should be proud as hell! If there were 55 entires I'd be happy to come in #56!

srh3trinity 11-06-2012 02:02 PM

What is the HP difference between your car and Mayhem? From what I saw, the gap was pretty narrow.

I have 611 hp at the crank, 518 to the rear wheels. Mark says 875 hp.

When I drove Mike Maier's Mustang with 825 hp, night and day to my car.

That gap says a lot for the car you put together and your driving ability.

Nice to meet you at SEMA, the 73 looked awesome!

Love this Camaro. I saw it at Maier Racing when Mike was working on it. My jaw dropped and liked what I saw in terms of fab work, suspension, those flared fenders.... and pretty much everything else about the car

Looks like it did pretty well at Thunderhill. With the proper rear gear and some sticky tires it will do 1:5x's easily.

Congrats at the OUSI event on a good finish. My buddy is Filip from Cortex Racing with the LS7 powered '65 Mustang.

73CPCAMARO 11-07-2012 09:46 AM

Here is video from behind the seats. The glare on the windshield prevents you from seeing the track. I had not put a camera here before. Oh well. It is different to watch myself driving. The wheel hop was killing me. Too much rear brake bias! I am still kicking myself for not adjusting it.

I mean I'm a huge Steilow fan, but this is impressive. Awesome runs and congrats again!

GregWeld 11-07-2012 11:29 AM

Love it!

I've driven that track so it was fun to try to imagine where you were... Sadly I was 5 turns back from you!

I'd say your advantage in front tire and weight makes it a pretty fair fight between the cars. It must be since it came down to less than .1.:D

I have a bigger tire, but the weight advantage is only about 175 lbs if Mark told me the truth. :D

Payton King 11-07-2012 12:21 PM

I heard the tire hop on the video

Was not sure if that was brake bias or your down shifting without the clutch...now I know

73CPCAMARO 11-29-2012 01:01 PM

My buddy played around a bit with his new phone app. Here are some cool shots from OUSCI.

Pic 2 works

The audio in this video is too good! Absolutely love the sound of that Mast motor through the range.
You're running the SS 605hp??

Yes, it is the Mast Motorsports LS3 416 SS 605 hp. Great power and range. That is why I picked this motor. For what I do, it is enough power.
I had a few people come to me and ask if it was 700+ hp. The trick is coming off the corner and throttle up as early as possible.

Brian

Flash68 11-29-2012 02:11 PM

Brian, is that a HANS device I see in that video?

It sounds like it has a generous amount of usable over-rev?
Also, what did ECM are you using?

All said that motor package appears hard to argue IMO.

Congrats again on your Optima results.

GregWeld 11-29-2012 03:42 PM

Brian -- I just wish you were half as good at video as you are at driving!

Of course, this is coming from a guy that sucks at both of those!

Hey! Don't be adding to your "wish list" --- stick to just getting that old pig up and running... When you go real fast -- THEN you get to buy protective clothing and safety gear and such!

:wow:

Flash68 11-29-2012 04:35 PM

Hey you! Just trying to see who's a daredevil and who's conscious about safety. The HANS Nazi (Jer Dog) should be posting here any minute. :D

Dave, yes it is. I am kind of a safety nut. I have an Alpinestars suit and under garments, shoes, and Sparco gloves. The HANS is a must at the speeds we run on a road course, IMO. Spring Mountain is kind of slow, for most of the track. But, we are doing 130+ down the back stretch.

Funny I was wondering the same thing when I drove by there last weekend and saw the sign. I forgot Kassabian's had moved. Or closed. I dunno.

Mike,

My old shop in Dublin is moving across the street soon. We bought the building. I moved to our new Fremont shop 3 years ago.

Chuck is a great guy. My Dad and I raced for years with him.

I agree Brian. We spend so much on performance items, safety should be added to the priority list.

Big Willow was 130-135 (with my previous motor) down the front stretch with a 100+ mph turn leading into it. Lots of bad can happen with that.

Greg, you got a wicked fast car and you're getting faster (I've seen you). You listening? :unibrow:

glassman 12-01-2012 12:00 AM

Brian, what's happening with the current one you have on Dublin blvd? (Used to be galluchis, we bid on the storefronts) I'd be interested in it if it came up on the market....
