Greg,
on your way back up stop in Portland, so we can check that rig out. |
I will give a good once over tonight. We might have to have a big rig race.
|
Nice rig Greg, glad the torture is over. Now go fill it up!
|
It will do in a pinch. :D

Being able to retreat to the tow rig and relax after a hard day on the track with these accommodations is a huge bonus. |
Sweet.
Greg |
Yep looks like Greg has already out fitted it with the CB radio, coffee maker, and Starbucks mug.
|

Cool rig. Glad the saga is over for you. Now you just have to pick out a set of Intros for it and call it done.

Is my Mustang tied down to the hoist or the deck in front of the hoist ?

That is a great track car Charlie. |

Wow, that rig/setup is just bad to the done! Enjoy Greg :hail:
|
Did anyone noticed how close the seat is to the steering wheel? You would think a rig that size would have a little more leg room than that. :D
Really nice rig there mr. Weld. When is the trip to the east coast? HEEP |
North Eastern coast.

Personally.... I'd like the seat to go closer! Kidding... Did you see the pic with the ultra short fat old man in it? Now do you understand?:catfight: |
I'd respond to all the posts -- but just got home and need to just sit without using the thought process for a bit... maybe tomorrow...
I did "scale it" at Jubitz truck stop this morning.... 48,020 POUNDS.... that explains why it drives just a "bit" differently than my old pick up and 24' TAG trailer. Ya think?!?! |
Okay -- back to being a post whore...
This little trailer adventure started out with my canceling the 48' living quarters two car stacker.... and in doing so - talking to the Sport Truck RV dealer where I bought the truck. He mentioned he might have something that would "work" for me.... so I told him I was going to Cool April Nights in Redding, California... and that I'd roll on down to Phoenix afterwards to take a look at what he had. Thinking that I might have a "deal" I could work with -- I told Rudy to bring the title to his trailer to Redding --- and that he could have my 24' Motortrack -- which is nice trailer - but used trailers aren't worth much -- and I'd rather he just swap trailers with me - and I'll make the dealer take his in on "trade". It wasn't worth towing anywhere --- let alone a trade. Seriously. So we had a great show and cruise in Redding and Sunday AM I load up the '32 in my "new" trailer... Rudy heads home with his new trailer. I phone ahead and make a reservation at a hotel in Palm Springs... non-refundable BTW. 35 miles west of Palm Springs -- a lady is beside me waving frantically and honking her horn. Obviously something was wrong. I check the mirrors but it's sunset and I can't see much... until I hit the binders to slow down and pull over to the breakdown lane! SMOKE --- and lots of it!! OH CRAP.... I'm going to finally be rid of the '32!! By burning it up on the I-10.... but that's a different thread.... So a quick assessment of the situation -- I have a burned up wheel bearing!! http://i919.photobucket.com/albums/a...me/file-54.jpg Standing alongside the freeway -- I notice I'm right next to a WalMart. PERFECT! It's late Sunday night ---- I'm 35 miles from my non-refundable hotel --- I'm dragging this beat up POS to WalMart -- unhooking it - and going on to my room! I'll get it sorted out on Monday! DONE. Monday AM early I run back to where I left the trailer.... and as it turns out there's a trailer repair joint directly across the I-10 from where I am! Better lucky than smart. I run over to borrow some tools --- they never ask my name -- no deposit -- just good old fashioned guy to guy trust! An hour and a half later I have to wheel and hub off -- so I can balance the trailer on the three remaining tires and drag it to the super close repair shop. But --- always a big butt --- the bearing blow out had ruined the threads on the axle.... Not that I care.... cause I tell the RV repair guy "today is your lucky day! That trailer right there is YOURS! FREE! But I'm not repairing it - you are...AND --- I'm going to leave it here locked up for 2 or 3 days if that's okay. DONE. I unhook and go on to Phoenix.... a couple days later I go back and fetch the '32 -- and leave the title for the POS. Life is okay sometimes.... So Here's some pics.... slept the first night in a truck parking lot next to the trailer dealer -- got up O dark thirty and headed to Bakertucky! http://i919.photobucket.com/albums/a...me/file-80.jpg The problem with the drive from Phoenix to Btucky! Only have an FM radio!! No satellite! OMG long drive across the desert! So Rodger hooks me up with his stereo shop -- while they do better radio and speakers --- they allow me to use the shop tools to do a quick CB install.... Sweet! We're cooking now! http://i919.photobucket.com/albums/a...me/file-84.jpg http://i919.photobucket.com/albums/a...me/file-85.jpg http://i919.photobucket.com/albums/a...me/file-88.jpg In the driveway!!! HOME FINALLY!! http://i919.photobucket.com/albums/a...me/file-93.jpg http://i919.photobucket.com/albums/a...me/file-94.jpg http://i919.photobucket.com/albums/a...me/file-95.jpg |
Nice set up GW! Enjoy roughing it at the races ;) Congrats
I feel your pain. I fixed this last week, 22" enclosed http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y3/...ps36a105a7.jpg http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y3/...pscb037176.jpg It let go a few blocks from home. I ended up pulling the axle and having the spindle replaced and did all the other bearings |
http://i919.photobucket.com/albums/a...me/file-94.jpg
Greg, bummer of a break down. Man I hate issues on the road. I was over seeing my kid this morning and we decided to stop by your place and see if you were home just to shoot the ****t. Did a slow drive by around 1:30 and didn't see your rig in front of the shop so we kept a move on, maybe next time. Glad to see your finally set up well for the road:flag2: |

Yeah -- the bearing must have gone a couple 5 miles or more -- it had REALLY chewed up everything! The castle nut was partly rounded off which really made it hard to get off -- and the lock washer "thingy" was mangled which made things even more difficult with no tools to work with. I ended up shopping at WalMart for a screw driver etc.... I think poor Rudy's trailer lived at the beach for awhile... it was pretty rotted out. Quote:
Dang dude! Sorry I missed ya! I bought a Snap-On 30 gallon parts washer from a buddy in Portland and had to wait for him to come to Jubitz so we could load it in the trailer. So didn't leave Portland until about noonish. It was a busy day in Ptown --- 'cause I also needed to swap out all the stuff I left in my old trailer! I forgot how much crap I was carrying around in there! OMG! |
Trip was a lot of fun!! Met up with MikeP at Redding... tricked him into going to look at a "the ultimate PT Mustang" <I was sure he would pound my face once he walked all around in the heat to see it>.... For you No. Cal dudes -- Cool April Nights is a "must do" show! 1852 registered cars... and an amazing cruise with so many people watching! Holy cow... never thought that many people could come stand on the sidewalks to watch cars drive by.
Truck is easy to operate.... IF... you use your head. This is about the tortoise and the hare... the cars whiz by.. you just plug along... sometimes I'd see the same cars pass me 3 and 4 times in a day. Crazy. Had to call Rodger to ask about the jake brake... mine seemed "lazy" and mostly useless... today I figured out that if you slipped the tranny in "L" then the jake kicks on... Why they'd set it up this way I have no clue - but now that I've found it... it works great. The living quarters has 4 corner auto leveling -- pretty slick! Push a button and these legs drop down = and the whole truck starts doing a bit of a dance as they level up... Sweet! http://i919.photobucket.com/albums/a...me/file-82.jpg Me and the big rigs... I hate fueling... truck stops are filthy nasty places.... I just fuel and go! http://i919.photobucket.com/albums/a...me/file-72.jpg |
Thanks for dinner last week. Good times. Glad Rudy the stereo guy got you hooked up. Good guy there. The jake is your friend but works best at higher rpms. Now you need some straight pipes like me.

Was good to see you and Shannon and Frank! Good times indeed! Rudy (not my brother in law - but the stereo shop owner) was the best! Super nice guy! The truck makes a little noise with the new and improved jake -- but not like it should! I want hot rod jake sounds.... like the big truckers! It isn't going to happen with the regen exhaust stuff you must use... but I can dream! |
Mr. Weld, Yes I did see the picture of the vertically challenged guy. I just thought he was the tire changer.:D
No really, looks like an exciting time to just get behind the wheel and travel. you sir have been blessed in that and I love to hear about these trips. Enjoy and keep us entertained by your travels. HEEP |

I was going to let that it slide. What an amazing piece of "work". The funny thing was my dad and I walked down about 3 rows looking for it. If Greg says it is worth looking at it must be cool. My fault I fell for it. All I have to say is paybacks buddy. |
Eeeeeeeehaaaaaww!
That's all I got. Glad you ended up with the toter set up, seems to make more sense. Sure is a whole lot of white rollin down the highway... Dan |

Heep -- It's really more like FIVE YEARS.... I just wasn't vocal about it!
I really struggled with this whole process... because it's a large commitment of energy to do this stuff! If you get it and don't like it -- you're kind of stuck. They have zero resale value. I learned something from boating... the guys with 30's and 45's were out every weekend... once the guy stepped up and bought a 65' the boat never left the dock. I was worried that might be the same situation with these things. However... now that I have it -- I like it! |

Not to dig up an "old" thread, AND change the subject, but here is a picture Luara took of our boys guarding your car at Redding, gun and all.
