Curtis,

If you have some time to break away from the hunt, give me a call if you want to get together. There is also a cars & coffee meet this weekend as well.

Todd it was great to see you and thanks for the help. Appreciate your assistance in getting the ball rolling. You're welcome anytime. There are plenty of wrenches to go around.

The rear suspension is in, pinion agile is set and everything has been torqued. After that was finished Jeff and I started putting the brakes together. I've got the rear rotors bolted and torqued, but still need to lace them up with the safety wire. Haven't done that for awhile, so there's going to be a few do overs.

I am really enjoying working on the car. Jeff is more OCD out the details than I am and it's refreshing. There's no rush and I believe we are both enjoying the process. Jeffs shop setup is very user friendly! He has done a great job of putting it all together and and making it functional. In addition to being air conditioned, it's very clean. Never have to hunt for anything which is nice.

I enjoyed it. Keep Jeff happy. :D

Tu! That would be a lot of fun but the trip is for Johnnymac46's Baclor party. It's sure to be a full three days of hunting. I'll have to take a rain check.

Man I wish. Every time I am in the shop I'm wishing I could jump in and turn the key!

Life has been hectic since the car came home and I haven't been able to devote as much time on it as I'd like to. The rear suspension is good to go as are the rear brakes. I started assembly on the front brakes and ran into a fitment issue. I've been working with team at Artmorrision and Wilwood to nail down what was wrong. I assumed it was something I had done, but after several emails and a lot of pictures, it appears I was sent the wrong front calipers by Wilwood. They have been wonderful to deal with and the correct set has been shipped. Hopefully things will progress stead from here on out.

I thought this thing was going to be ready for SEMA.

Enjoy the ride my friend.

glassman 09-19-2017 06:34 PM

Your gonna park it out on the strip in front of Margaritaville right?

Beach Cruiser 09-20-2017 09:00 AM

That reminds me, I need to buy tickets to the party!

I would like to have had it running at the minimum so Mike could tune it. Yeah...not even close!

So, funny thing. Right in front of Margaritaville, running the Optima in '15, we were leaving from the light just down from there, my buddy mark says "wait, that person is gonna run the light", sure enough, then "bam" head on right next to us. Now that i think about it, i coulda got the car repainted a year earlier and under insurance LOL

You also could have been hauled off in a body bag! :confused59: Always nice when your buddy is watching to! With my wife working as a 911 dispatcher and the friends that I have who are Metro Police, I'm actually amazed that they still let people drive up and down the strip. LVMPD and the city have wanted to close it and allow trolleys and foot traffic only for awhile now. Probably never happen.

Got tickets! I'm staying at the BlueGreen 35? behind MGM for the week.

Awesome!! I'll be working part of the week, but let's get together at some point. I plan on attending OPTIMA also and can lend a hand if you need it.

Well Played.

Progress has been slooooww. Busy time of year for me and I'm not really in a huge rush. I've run into a few small things that had to be taken care of, like the front calipers not fitting....I was sent the wrong ones. Also the Vintage Air vent template doesn't work with the stock setup. Didn't realize that when I ordered the kit, so I had to modify them. Progress is happening, it's just slow. I brought the car home from Jeffs and that's helping. Jeff has a lot happening in his shop and needed the room for a customers car. I've found (Todd was right) that it helps having it here.

I haven't uploaded pictures recently, but here's a few that show you absolutely nothing. Feel free to come on by talk sh1t and spin a few wrenches.

Just for AJ...Not very exciting, but a good way to waste 3 minuets.

Good chunk of the Dynomat is in. Once I have things finished up inside the car and I am ready for interior, I'll install the remainder. Little more user friendly till then.

Used a wire wheel attachment on the end of an electric drill to clean up and recondition a few parts.

https://photos.smugmug.com/photos/i-...-CVF5XJP-L.jpg

Managed to snag my shoe lace in the wire wheel and this was the result. Lesson learned and next time I'll wear flip flops so that can't happen.

Walked in from work late last night and found a package from Mike at MuscleRodz on the counter. Yes I like cool custom parts
like we all do, but I was super stoked to get these lower firewall plates. Yeah.....I got up and installed them first thing this morning.

These big holes always bugged me. The plates are simple to install and have a super clean look. Huge improvement and easy on the budget.

Now I just need to get in and clean all the dust and hand prints out of there. :disgusted:

C,
what are you using for a booster and master,

since you have a aftermarket sub, front brake lines?, the factory length braided lines are too short,

and steering gear from the column to the rack,

looks like your getting ready to start laying this stuff out, and I'm doing the same, thanks Steve

Went with the Hydratech setup. Wilwood master. Art Morrison provides all the braided lines. I just need to cut the steering shaft and I'm good to go. Lots of little things seem to eat up all my time. Ugh

Its the small stuff time killers,

you get the steering shaft from AM also??

Just trying to figure out what to use, or the best,

Did I miss where you got the smooth rear chrome bumper from or did you make that yourself?

Yes. I ordered as much as possible from them to avoid any issues.

I had all the trim reconditioned and the rear bumper smoothed by Sihilling Metal Polishing. Fantastic work and at a very reasonable price.
