From my conversations with some audiophiles a few years ago the best way to run JLs are in a series a 3. 1,3,6, etc. For whatever reason. But I ran 3 15" W3s in my Explorer a few years back & it was ridiculous. It was right before the W7s debuted. I was told that one 13" W7 is equal to the 3 15s I was running. Like the OP said, one 10" W7 should be more than enough.

The Camaro is sick as s**t by the way.

Thanks! And the theory with 1,3,6 etc... is what I heard from a JL rep years ago, don't know the logic behind it but a single 10" is more than enough not matter what series it is.

Looks greats Greg! What I should have said is one 10" is more than enough in my little car!

Same here. It was never explained why, but a JL rep, Tweeter installer, & other audio shops said the same thing.

thats simply a marketing gimmick by JL...it makes no difference whatsoever for the output.

W7s are decent woofers for your average install. I think in a car like this they just so happen to look killer aswell. With that said there are FAR better SQ woofers out there than the W7, and when it comes to SPL (getting loud) the W7 is actually not much more than average.

3 w3 15s should absolutely demolish a single 13w7 if each were properly powered in proper enclosure. But ive heard JL say that aswell...just another marketing ploy. I recall when the w7 was first being released how it was marketed as the best woofer in the world...lol.:snapout:

Now without being a debbie downer......AMAZING CAR!

I actually spoke to an installer yesterday about the same thing. He has no JL affiliation. His explanation was that with the older W3s & below the series of 3 was actually a valid point. He said once the W6s, W7s, & newer models came out that was a moot point. I know that when it comes to SPL competition that JL is not at the top of the list. The W7 is just a loud a** woofer. It doesn't bring that exemplary clarity that SPL is known for. I believe that Focal offers much better clarity than JL. But JL is still a very good brand. I prefer it for what I like.
