Little everyday is right - colonoscopy this morning and I'm sitting on the porch with a grey scotch brite scuffing the intake and the water pump for the third coat of POR15 :thumbsup:
Just gotta get done ... might as well be now!

I thought after the procedure you were having a "grey scotch", and I was thinking whats "grey scotch", then I saw the word "brite"? LOL

I did a double take at that one too! Glad I'm not the only one.

BTW, Hope that procedure was uneventful and all is well.

More POR15
 

Almost finished the intake last nite, need to do the water pump still, so I taped off the exhaust around the headers this morning. I then realized I've had these headers since 2000 and have never bolted them on to the engine .... guess I'm not alone amongst the gearheads? :thumbsup:
So ... not too exciting, but the POR is soaking into the Al intake (3 coats) so I may spray the heads after masking off and see if there is a primer I can use first to help with coverage, who knows?

Headers bolted on for the first time!

While the intake is drying I'm gonna get the underside of the deck lid cleaned off and maybe spray some epoxy later today .... supposed to have severe thunder storms and HAIL? today :(

I hope not cuz I just got my trunk outa the body shop Friday from the last hail storm, new hood and paint and PDR on the roof.

That's a pretty killer looking motor in my opinion. I love the sbc orange against the aluminum, and the intake is really intriguing me. I fought smoke stains on mine last summer trying several products by spot treating it for effectiveness.
When all is said and done I could have just pulled it and reblasted it. When I painted the motor it did cross my mind to do the intake.

Did I read you are using POR in different colors or am I imagining that?

I take it you are really a fan of the POR products?

I am looking to select a really tough black for the undercarriage and other areas. I do not want to spray it in some areas though to avoid the risk of under masking and getting overspray.

POR15 is the sheets!!!!
 

Thanks .... yes I am using different colors of POR, silver for the body work and then cover that with their Chasis Coat Black (knowing you covered everything with change of colors) and of course Chevy Orange for the motor.
As long as you use their Prep and Ready and Marine Clean this stuff will last forever :thumbsup:

I will reduce their black and spray my undercarriage and then a liner spray for texture and reduce chips/ sound deadener.

Did the underside of the trunk and then it's blowing and raining outside of course ... and what's up with the METRIC bolts in the latch? :( repop!

So I'm gonna keep going and get the cowl stripped and ready for epoxy.

When you are painting in your laundry room etc are you brushing it on with those results? If you are I am more impressed with either you or the product. :rofl:

It looks surprisingly smooth and glossy so I have to ask how you are laying it down.

I want to paint/coat my floor 1st without masking everything inside/out. I have a rear diff and new leaf springs I want to do too as far as black goes right now.

It's mostly the POR :thumbsup: ... I have found that if you use a foam brush it lays down smoother and I use the laundry room to keep crap out of the finish. You have to lay down two coats min just as the POR is tacky it will take ....if you let it dry you have to use their Self Etching Primer or a grey scotch brite to get the bite for additional coats.

I can't see doing the undercarriage by brush :willy: so I'll buy their reducer and spray on the black.

WOW! I cant believe you have so much motivation still! I'm worried about how much rust mine may have now :/ Keep on going! You are doing a very good job at doing everything right the first time!
