Just posting the little video I made playing with Movie Maker..........

Oh!.......................and a few update photos to boot!

Drivers side view of crossmember tie-in to subframe downbars! I like the lightning holes they cut out of the box-in sheetmetal!

Passenger side view of Crossmember tie-in to subframe downbars!

Overview of engine bay with Crossmember tie-ins! I think I may move the A/C compressor up to where the passenger side Tie-in is to fill the void!

Removable crossmember to complete structural rigidity of subframe! This is a mock up! Plans are for a CNCed aluminum one but the mock up might look super cool as is so I guess we'll see!

just wondering what the track width and ride heigh and wheel size/offset your using. the frame looks fairly wide. and did you make the upper control arms for any specific reason
it looks really good, geterDone!!!

I didn't measure it last time I was there but I think track width is 55"(?). Ride height is 4 3/4" from the cowl. Wheel size in front is going to be 17/9 with a 6"(?) offset! I'll try and get exact numbers for you next time I go up! The control arms we did are different from the stock vette arms so we could take advantage of improving the geometry instead of having to work around GM's stock arms. How's the '66 you guys finished?:captain:

I really enjoy these updates guys - living vicariously through the lens of your cameras. Making excellent progress and the car is bad a$$ ! You're almost there - So you'll be at Columbus right ??

Didn't see Jake's name in the credits list !!!

Don't forget the garage dogs - the work don't get done without them !

BTW, I vote yes to moving the AC to the upper spot to fill that area. Or move the Alt over and put a Paxton on the left side... that would certanily balance it out visually.

The track width is 54.5. the wheel BS is about 6.5. These are stock corvette wheels. The ride height is 5". The wheels turns lock far beyond what we ever would need. We will be ordering the rack this week.

As far as the upper controls arms go. We wanted to lengthen them to improve geometry. We built them from scratch to improve the roll center. Plus we wanted to use the cross shaft mounting to improve alignment adjustablity. I got some super hot rod numbers from some boys in the know on C5 C6 geometry and we set this front end up accordingly.

Did you run with the 59.5 Track width on you morrison chassis under that nova?

Blake Foster 05-29-2007 08:20 AM

WE built the chassis for the nova and the track is 52.5 but it runs 19 x 8.5 with 6 bs and it goes lock to lock with room to clear and the frame is 4" off the ground.

ironworks 05-29-2007 08:22 AM

Well 1st off we are a Procharger shop and secondly I don't think we could fit anything more than a hair dryer under the hood of this thing. And we could not get Conair to sponsor us on this project so I guess we will leave it naturally aspirated.

We are currently working on the inner fenders and hinges braces that we modified to fit the recessed firewall and lower ride height. I thought about calling and complaining to Chris Alston that his hinge braces hit my tires on my lowered Nova.

It would be alot easier to hang the Ac down below use the notch for some other stuff. We still have to put the dry sump under the hood with Radiator and fans. Plus condensor, and overflow tank, and all 8 coils a million other things.

How is the german C5 coming along?

Wow those control arms must be burried against the Engine. I thought you guys used an art morrison clip on the front. SORRY. What rack did you guys use, we use a woodward rack on all our projects like this.

So when I tell john his car is like 10lbs of crap in 5lbs bag you completely understand where I'm coming from.....

Hi Rodger !

Wait till the Boss catches you playing on the internet !!

Got a little work done on the car this weekend. First days off for the past 4 weeks. Plus the 500 was this weekend - so some party time was required. Wow, the rain really sucked though... One nice thing about race weekends here in Indy is all the race shops do an open house. It's really great to get to go through all these high-end shops and see/talk to people. Force, Pedergon, Cory Mac, Vance and Hines, Beast, Simpson, the local hot rod shops, engine builders, chassis builders, etc... open the doors and let everyone just hang out - way cool of them. Next opportunity is the Brickyard and US Nationals if anyone is in town at those times.

Cut the jack spurs off the bottom and clearance a path for the outside frame rails. Pulled some measurements and doing some basic piece part buildup stuff right now. Definitely need a weeks vacation just to stay in the garage and work through to get something accomplish - you guys are gettin way ahead now... Hope to see you and the truck in Columbus ! (and bring John and the finished Nova too !!) I'll buy you guys a beer if I can get through the crowds to you magazine superstar car builder guys
