Wayne PM'd me today about this build.

It's progressing... Carefully measuring everything, badly installed stuff being cut off, stuff off the powder coating... stuff on pallets on the way to me... like Carbon fiber goodness.

Now if anvil would call me back, I'd get the inner and outer fenders going.

The pallet pic is the hood, trunk lid and filler panel. Rear spoiler's on it's way, too.

I'm confused --- which car of yours did Scott Mock AKA Coolwelder62 completely screw up??? I read with extreme disappointment -- your post -- with pics included ... about the piss poor work done on your car. I've not seen such poor welding in a long time except from some complete newbs. WOW. I'd grind 'em all out and start over.

Ah never mind -- -- I scrolled back and saw and read the posts. Should have done that before my other post. But on the other hand - it (the post) bump TTT (refreshes) the "don't go there!!".

It's the passenger quarter on this car in this thread. As far as I can tell, he didn't brace anything when he cut the car apart. It looks like the roof slipped down and instead of pushing the roof back, he cut the lip off the outer wheel tub and boogered/burned through it on the lower corners, but no welds any where else. The funny thing, he sent me pictures of something else... once I knew to look there (it's not the focus of the shot), I could see this work in that pic by blowing it up. I didn't see it at the time, so no view of work until I could actually pull the IRS down and see what happened. Those pics were sent in Dec... I picked the car up months later.

I will brace it and cut it out, as soon as an event happens. As I said, it's the quarter and a bunch of small things, that can all be corrected, but should not have to be for the money/time spent. The funny thing is, the driver's side quarter is perfect so I know he knows how it needed to be done right.

There are other things, I think - Like doing the quarters before the IRS. I would've installed the IRS first, considering that either the IRS needed to be narrowed (correctly) or it needed to be wide bodied via the quarters/wheel tubs he installed. All four Ride Tech coils are destroyed by rubbing on control arms and sway bars he installed. Rims he specified hit the shocks he installed.

When I sent him the DSE adjustable links, he contacted DSE who told him he could narrow it 1.25" a side by turning the link all the way in. That is also what they told me and why I sent them. He turned an additional .75" off the links, which according to his friends at DSE is dangerous. I thought he knew what he was doing (a professional) so I gave the go ahead to narrowing. He didn't tell me what DSE said, as the "Professional" I would have called my customer and said the manufacturer doesn't support what you want me to do, you sure you want me to do this? Instead, I came back to cut parts and full liability, with him telling me I said it was ok. I accept that, as I wasn't clear. Still cost another $2400.00. So we're back out with all new manufacturer blessed parts... bought new GM upper control arms to replace the cut and welded upper he did and all new DSE links.

As he said, it will all "take some tuning", but this car was supposed to be ready for paint and racing this season. As his son said to me on Facebook, this is hot rodding. Funny thing, I don't call 25K in parts and labor hot rodding... Always thought that an installation was supposed to work within the system it was installed in. Like the quarters or the IRS.

1 step forward, 6 steps back.

So far, he's radio silent (on all the forums we're both on) and kept the $1K due to me for the motor/trans/sub frame he told me he sold.

Anyhow, other than a certain event, this is all behind me. It will get done right. I wanted to jettison the project, but my kids like it too much. I am happy to answer any questions, but I am not thinking about how/why he did what he did, just that I need to fix it and build an awesome racer.
