Greg,
Anything new with your setup? Have these folks contacted ya? ;) https://sphotos-b.xx.fbcdn.net/hphot...89626368_n.jpg |
I've been buying and adding and "making it my own" since day one. While Pierre was here yesterday doing some chassis painting on his project -- I was out in "da rig" adding some more PitPal products to the walls. I'm waiting for the white Snap-On tool box I ordered and hopefully it gets here before my next big trip June 11th (L A Roadster Show).
One thing readers will get a good laugh out of ------ I needed to hit the big RV dealer and get an extension cord so I could plug the toter into some "shore power".... I was so happy to find a 25' cord with the big 4 prong female that matched the 50 amp house cord -- and an adaptor to then plug the new extension cord into my 30 amp 3 prong twist lock as used around the "shed" -- I promptly came home - and hooked up this mess of cords and adaptors! Then the smoke started rolling out the bottom of one of the "lockers"..... OOPS and OH Shizzles..... and I unplugged my "mess". The extension cord was the right version as far as matching the 4 prongs etc --- but the house cord is 220V --- and the wall plug is 220V --- ah -- but that extension cord is 125V !!! Not a match -- oh no -- not a match at all! It's sending voltage up the neutral leg.... This little "snafu" knocked out the Microwave - the TWO on board battery chargers (called Converters) - and the automatic transfer switch.... as well as a GFIC circuit breaker in the trailer... So a couple thousand bucks later -- All the parts arrived and I fixedededed it all up! The Microwave took TWO repair calls -- 1 to figure out what it needed and if it could be repaired -- and 2 to install the circuit board that was toast.... The good news --- I'd bought a couple big 3 prong 125V extension cords -- they're now being put to good use via the fancy box I bought that takes two 125V cords and makes 220V (what we call 220 -- which would be 110 down each leg with a common neutral and ground) and all is good and working just fine!! I added a Sleep Number Queen bed to the overhead bunk area ---- and it works out just fantastic -- has two zones -- and is LIGHTWEIGHT - but very comfortable..... I've added slide outs in a couple of the cupboards since they're deep but narrow -- this helps utilize the back of these cupboards... Today, as a matter of fact, when I get done working out -- the plan is to hit the grocery store and stock the refer with all the little things a guy needs - mustard - ketchup - et al.... Oh yeah --- and I did buy a nice gas BBQ for it which also works out really well. Light but big enough to actually cook some stuff on -- and it sits nicely on the PitPal folding aluminum table I bought. |
Will you be giving tours of your rig at the LA Roadster Show?
--Eric |
GW,
I did a search for LA Roadster show and it says June 15 & 16th. Is this the same show? (I've never been and first heard about it here from you) "Our show is always held on Father's Day Weekend in June of each year at the Fairplex in Pomona, Caliifornia. In 2013, the 49th Annual Show will be held on Father's Day Weekend June 15th and 16th at the Fairplex in Pomona, Caliifornia". http://laroadsters.com/ |
Greg,
Enjoyed hearing what you've done to make it your own. Except the part when ...uh, things went http://www.domrep.ch/images/smilies/booom.gif. |

Remember that on-board fire system conversation? |
Put wheelchair rails and bathroom access for handicapped. It will come in handy by the time it's done!!!

It sounds like you've added some sweet additions to your rig, and unintentionally updated some electrical parts.
A home away from home ! |
The Muttstang in the nose.....
http://i919.photobucket.com/albums/a...me/file-42.jpg Then the Nomad in the mezzanine level... with the little '32 on the bottom. Fits like a glove! http://i919.photobucket.com/albums/a...me/file-45.jpg Getting all the strap hangers hung and organized -- I do this by COLOR -- Red for the Roadster - Yellow ones for the Muttstang -- Blue for the Nomad etc.. some up front -- some in back -- gotta make 'em handy and neat (the OCD ADD in me... LOL) http://i919.photobucket.com/albums/a...e/file-101.jpg Gotta have a BBQ!!! And the nice (really nice quality) Aluminum folding table is perfect! http://i919.photobucket.com/albums/a...e/file-100.jpg Waiting on Snap-On for the toolbox for this corner....but in the meantime got a few items hung.... http://i919.photobucket.com/albums/a...me/file-98.jpg Gotta have a trash basket!! http://i919.photobucket.com/albums/a...me/file-47.jpg And a race jack holder..... http://i919.photobucket.com/albums/a...me/file-97.jpg And you have to chock the trailer!!!! http://i919.photobucket.com/albums/a...me/file-46.jpg http://i919.photobucket.com/albums/a...e/file-102.jpg And the wife has to sleep well --- or you're just in for a lousy trip!! http://i919.photobucket.com/albums/a...e/file-104.jpg |
As long as it is --- 65' ---- you really don't notice it from the side street where it's parked up alongside the shop....

Uh....... maybe ---- but probably not -- parking is way away from the show part.... but maybe.... :>) Quote:
YES --- that is the show..... We'll be there - staying at the Sheraton Fairplex on the grounds there -- on THURSDAY afternoon.... and will split Sunday some time is what we're planning now. It's GWEN'S birthday on the 15th ---- so maybe you and Cheryl could join us for dinner?? Maybe the Hilltop??? What do you think???? Quote:
YES! Thank god I plugged it in and then stood there for a minute patting myself on the back for such a stellar job..... and then the smoke came pouring out the bottom of the rig..... I was standing by my "connection" so just bent over and unplugged it. Damage done. But no fire. I'm an idiot..... it wasn't until I started to try to figure out "why'd that happen" that I looked at the extension cord and see it's 125V -- so 220V on two sides --- and a 125V link in the middle.... DOH! What a dumbazz.... Quote:
I need one now!! I'm old.... Ever see Charlie walk? --- I'll try to keep everything he needs on one level. Quote:
Working on it.... it's worse than building a car! There's so much stuff you never knew you needed!!!!! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA |
Greg,
An absolutely beautiful rig. I saw one that was almost identical heading to Virginia to dyno my car (from Charlotte). Similar motor home and trailer. The only thing that killed me was the rear was solid shiny shiny something and it was blinding as the sun was low. I will never be able to afford it but it is gorgeous! :G-Dub: PS Still think you should change the name of the thread, the title is still misleading! :sarcasm_smiley: Peter |

Yes the name is all wrong now.... I agree. Thank you for the kind compliments! I wish it wasn't all white -- but washing it the other day --- I was glad it was! Man is that a lot of surface area to clean! And yes -- I've already been scolded on the CB from a trucker that was following me with his lights on.... My response to him was ''Well... then back the F off.... 'cause you're following too close if it's a problem for ya!".... Then I started hoping he needed fuel before I did.... :catfight: |
Dr Weld, that is one bitchin' clinic!
|
Even though I like orange...........a Homer Bucket?
In that trailer.............seriously? https://i.chzbgr.com/maxW500/1748233472/h886E1CE2/ |
Our family did the horse trailer thing and while not near as large it was a pain to wash. If I had to do it all over again I would have found the person who had a passion to wash it!! I pretty much do everything myself but that is something, along with weed eating our pastures, that I need to psych myself up for.
Yeah the reflection was a killer not even being that close.. so I had to pass him. I would worry more about two trucks pulling around and deciding to stop, block and discuss!!! Especially on the country roads of the south east! Anyway enjoy! |

It's the OLD garbage can from the old trailer --- I got me one dem dare fancy lewnum ones now! |

I would consider that a life threatening situation and after I blew the smoke out of my Kimber.... I'd be calling the coroner.... There's actually A LOT of rigs with quilted (not as bad) and SS doors on them... funny --- sitting up high --- it doesn't bother you when you're following... but in a car... it's bad I agree. Maybe I'll have to start plastering it with bumper stickers... My favorite "Peel backing and apply to bumper". |

|
After that electrical snafu, perhaps get one of them AARP bumper stickers...
'If this trailer is a smokin, it ain't what ya think, so please come a knockin.' I think that's what the sticker they sent me said... :peepwall:  |

Your rig is looking better then the John force racing camp  BTW who's Cheryl? |

I'm an old idiot --- forgot who I was talking to --- I was posting to ROB -- FETorino -- thinking HE'D asked the question! DOH!!! Sorry.....my mistake. |

Okay -- WTF.... Call it..... Greg's Folly.... or maybe Charlie's helpin' me pee more money away.... or maybe Call me stupid... this may be my new home.... I like the name it has -- if someone is looking for some help - Back about a half a zillion pages there's lots of good discussion. Doesn't matter where it ended up. It'd be like starting a build thread - then once it's done you going to change the name from "my 69 project" to "my finished 69 project" ---- then you have to move it from the project section.... :smiley_smack: |
No worries GW

Here's why I love my Brother in Law - Rudy.....
When I went to get my new "rig" --- I decided to give Rudy my old trailer.... which was pretty dang nice -- and take his old (which wasn't very nice) and try to get the dealer to give me $500 for it.... The point here is that he is appreciative and he takes care of stuff... if he didn't - I wouldn't do what I do. Some people can afford "stuff" but let it go to hell... They can't afford the nice stuff - but take care of what they have... The trailer.... Just for "picture" purposes.... http://i919.photobucket.com/albums/a...lloween008.jpg BEFORE Rudy waxed it....... http://i919.photobucket.com/albums/a...e/file-105.jpg And FOUR HOURS later --- he's got HALF the trailer done..... http://i919.photobucket.com/albums/a...e/file-106.jpg |
