I have been running 245'-18's on the front of my
Pantera for over 8 years now. Brakes are 12.2 wilwood 6 piston
Bush grand national stuff... Yes roundly round stuff
Never have locked or flat spotted any tires. I do have
315-18's out back. Car is mid engine and it took a while
To balance out but that is what it is about ..proportioning valve

He'll my old mustang (Chet's car now) had Baer 6 pistons
Up front and drums in the back. Car is very light but still
Stopped very well. 245-16's all the way around
That car was 2810lbs so that helps
Greg's should be lighter. Weight always wins in my book

Pantera is beefy at 3040 lbs

Panteracer

I've alway said it boils down to weight and tires. I'm always looking for ways to shed weight.
After 4 years of trying to balance the suspension(with what I'm working with anyways) I finally feel like its where i want it. Working on adding more power now and waiting to see what I'll break next.

Call Todd.

:underchair:

GW - I'm hoping it will be better after the battery is cycled a few more times.

Panteracer 10-03-2014 05:06 PM

Welds car

Seems if you are over 600hp
That is where things start to break
But with the new tire tech it takes more
toll on drive train etc

I recently lost 10 lbs so my car is now lighter:)

I'm at 590hp so the motor must know that and say "fine... As long as you don't push it buster!!"

I just really don't understand why it takes some of you guys months and months and some even stretch into YEARS to get your car stuff done.... LOL

Powertrain is in.
Composite leafs have arrived - rear end is going in this week.
New corrected spindles shipped today :)
Shocks will be last thing to arrive later this week or early next.

The car will be all set up for you to pick up on October 16th.

Most of the cars on here are pro built.... and they're still years in the making.

But I do fully understand the dilemma which is why I put the LOL after my first line. I've been doing everything on my own for years now -- and I have to say it's pretty nice just making a few decisions and having it done!

You're right Stuart.... Doesn't matter what it is - if it has 4 wheels they're never done.

I feel like I'm just getting my drivers license! I can't wait to see if there's some real differences in the new set up. I only wish Gaetano was signed up - cause then I could lap his sorry butt. LOL

In my dreams.

Greg the wheels and stance look awesome! It looks like it still partly on the lift, is it going to sit lower? I have the same year and have mine is that low. Have fun driving it.
Mike

Sieg 10-15-2014 10:15 PM

Looks awesome and I'm guessing the performance gains will be similar.

1st week in August to third week in October.......all things considered pretty impressive feat Mr. Sutton.

That said.........Good Luck!

Flash68 10-15-2014 10:38 PM

GregWeld 10-16-2014 08:34 PM

Basher -- Hope you're driving a pickup! I have a LOT of parts that came off the car that have your name on them.

It's okay - I love her anyway!!!

I was going to make some snide comment about driving a Ford only at the track -- but then I realized I have 4 of them..... WTF!

to see you guys. Zr1 buddy said I could
Grab a ride before we run on Monday with
Cfra boys. Will stop by and bs

GregWeld 10-17-2014 09:17 PM

It was a thrash for the boys at BMR and Mister Ron Sutton..... but the "new" Mustang is here at Thunderhill....

Motor was redone at Borello... makes almost the same identical power... Improved Oil pressures! But more importantly -- for whatever reason - it SOUNDS better.

http://i919.photobucket.com/albums/a...r/IMG_6581.jpg

Some minor upgrades and Rons secret set up sauce. I'm learning this is MORE THAN just buying brand name parts and throwing them on... WAY MORE. The parts aren't squat without the right things being done with them. I don't know what needs to be done with them - That's why I hire Ron Sutton.

Would you able explain some about the ends of the leaf springs? Ive never seen the ends look like that before.

It looks like he is running composite monoleafs. Unlike a steel spring which has a wrap around the bushing (basically a loop on the end of the spring) the composite spring has a bolt on bushing housing.

gerno 10-18-2014 09:00 PM

I see your Accusump is in the rear of the car. I was thinking to place mine near the engine to reduce the length of hose needed. Did you speak to anyone about where to place it before you install the tank in your car? If so do you have any feedback?

craig510 10-18-2014 09:34 PM

Greg,

I doubt Ron and his guys would have missed this, but I had to trim a bunch off of my outer shock outer tower braces / factory bump stop mounts for tire clearance when I went to that much backspace (I know a lot of mustang guys that just remove them when they go to coil overs). Depending on your camber gain and travel, it looks like the tire could get into it at full bump.

The car looks great by the way. I really like those wheels.

This is how mine turned out:

They still rubbed during autoX runs even after I took a cut on them.
http://i885.photobucket.com/albums/a...ps7df38cb8.jpg

So I cut more and braced it back up with 5/16 rod.
