Solid. Thanks for sharing the vid Todd. Look forward to seeing and hearing Payback in person soon at RTTC.

I just spent 3 days on and off reading all 263 pages, awesome build and a great thread! Lots of worthless, I mean priceless info! The car looks great, its a breath of fresh air around here to see something BBC powered, that hangs with the best of them all day. Gives me hope for my Pontiac project, now if only I can get my hands on an aluminum block!

In all seriousness, there are some valuable lessons to be learned at my expense. |

I agree, my car is not out of anybody's league to build and that's what makes it interesting for most guys. Actually getting out there and using it certainly doesn't hurt. The continued tweaking is probably what separates my car from most. I'm certainly not done but it's just little annoyances and tweaks at this point. I really want to get the most out of the car and I still feel I can make some strides and achieve better performance goals. I don't think it's possible to build a perfect car OR buy one for that matter. I really do enjoy the tuning and tweaking and the small gains they allow.

Well said Todd. Keep the fire burning! Payback is a real asset to the 69 Camaro performance enthusiast. Reality is it could be considered one of our era's naturally aspirated benchmarks.

I'm not there yet but I don't think there is any doubt that I have one of the best all around BIG BLOCK:unibrow: Camaros on the planet.
Getting a really good pass down the 1/4 is a goal of mine this year. I've done a best of 11.95 et and 120mph. I'll be happy with sub 11.6 and around 123-125. With a better burn out, quicker shifting trans, better weather, I think it's there. Close anyway...The best times I've seen from 1st gen car in handling trim is around 11.4-11.5 at 123-125. Believe that was Stielow. |
Maybe the gear ratios in the T56 Mag close ratio will also help. :unibrow:
