Chris started painting this morning after a final day of masking and prepping yesterday. The day started off with 5 coats of base applied with all of the body parts in their proper location to minimize variations in the metallic and ensure consistency over the entire car.

With the base coats done the car was partially blown apart again, with the hood, trunk, header, and valance coming off and four coats of clear being laid down over the course of the afternoon.

We’ll give the paint a day and then the wet sanding and buffing will begin. With five passes of wet sanding and three rounds of polishing there is another 40 hours of work before we start reassembly.
