Very cool Brian. Bet your pops and daughter had a blast too.

Cris@JCG 05-22-2013 05:21 PM

Very cool Brian! Looking forward too checking it out..

WSSix 05-22-2013 05:48 PM

cool deal! I was wondering whose 2nd gen Dave was referring to in the Fast 6 thread

lilcraigford 05-23-2013 12:01 PM

Thats pretty cool! I'll have to keep an eye out for it.

I know that a replica of the Anvil Mustang is featured in this movie (already destroyed in the trailers sadly), and that Big Red and the F-Bomb made appearances in films prior. Really cool to see cars I'm familiar with on the big screen!

Royalworks 05-23-2013 03:32 PM

What!? That's to cool! Someday...

89 RS 05-23-2013 04:25 PM

That is awesome Brian! How many people can say they've had that kind of experience with their car and to be able to include your dad and daughter also.

MSTSFabbed 05-28-2013 05:43 AM

I enjoyed spying your car in the movie! Definitely shows you did more than a few things right!! Huge congratulations!

glassman 05-28-2013 08:48 PM

I went to the SoCal Challenge over the weekend and had a blast. I had never been there before, so I had not learned the tricks of the track. I recently put on Falken RT 615K's and I have been impressed. I was fortune to win the overall during the day. I was only .1 off the track record on the Falkens. At the end of the day, the track and So Cal crew let me throw on my year old Goodyear slicks for an attempt at the track record. My shifter was hanging up on me on my downshifts from 3rd to 2nd, so I ran up on the rev limiter until my last lap. I hated doing this! I had a delay due to over heating, but they waited it out for me. I had one crack at it and I made the best of it. The old track record for the past year was held by a modified Miata with aero and forced induction. His time was a 43.24. I beat it by 2 seconds with a 41.25.

Here is a video of the run from the left quarter panel view. The new sound out of the exhaust is courtesy of a new Black Widow muffler. I love the sound.

GregWeld 06-09-2013 08:32 PM

Awesome setting a track record!! Sweet....

I have to tell ya though --- I'm not sure I'd run my car on that track -- holy crap that's narrow!!

Flash68 06-09-2013 08:34 PM

Knew you'd break it! Not even close. Congrats. What was your street tire time for comparison?

Exhaust sounds good. Change just for something different?

Track Junky 06-09-2013 08:40 PM

Thats aweome!! Congrats!!

70rs 06-09-2013 08:42 PM

Awesome! Man, that stack of tires looked CLOSE!!!

That would be 43.34 on Falkens DG :twak: :smiley_smack: :hitaxeonthehead: Pay attention Flash.

Pretty awesome for "learning the tricks of the track"

The track is narrow, but a lot of fun! I used all the track I could. I had to do my part in making sure American Muscle held that track record and I wanted to shatter it!

FETorino 06-09-2013 11:06 PM

So Brian. You were running some pretty big Mich 19/20s last year for street tires. What size Flakens are you running? :headscratch:

Since the Corvette is down getting a new engine, I took the 315-30-18's I had for it and put them on some 18 x 10.5 wheels that were my rain tire/wheel set up for the Camaro. They are small for the Camaro and not an ideal size, but they work. I loved them on the Corvette and wanted to try them on the Camaro. The Camaro performed amazing on the Falkens. I could not believe the grip I was getting! I run that 315-30-18 on 18 x 12 wheels on the Corvette. 18 x 11 - 11.5 may be best for that size.

Brian

FETorino 06-09-2013 11:25 PM

Thanks. I was wondering what you ended up doing since I've never seen those Falkens in the larger sizes like the 345 your were running. I was kinda hoping you were going to say they had released some larger sizes. I know Brett is digging those Falkens on his car.

Vince@Meanstreets 06-10-2013 01:02 AM

The tire chicane didn't make a bit of difference...you didn't miss a beat.

Sieg 06-10-2013 07:58 AM

Congrats Brian.

I was watching the counter-steering out of the corners thinking "that track looks like fun."

I really liked the previous exhaust note and now it sounds even better.

89 RS 06-10-2013 08:37 AM

Congrats on breaking the record! Thanks for sharing the video, exhaust sounds great.
Brian, like Dave asked, I'm curious if you switched to a different muffler for the heck of it or performance reasons?

I have been nailed for being too loud with the Borla muffler that was originally on the car. I switched to a Flowmaster Race muffler like the Hush Power. That was better and it sounded good, but still a bit loud. Billy with Black Widow Exhaust Systems approached me and asked me to try his new design. The sound is a much crisper sound on my car. As the load and rpm increase, the sound db's do not increase. It may even get a bit quieter. I do not notice any performace advantage or disadvantage compared to my straight thru mufflers in the past. With 600 hp, it is hard to feel one way or another.

Awesome. Thanks for the ride.

Matt@BOS 06-10-2013 06:35 PM

Brian, congrats again on setting the track record out at Adams. I think most people that were chasing it are just going to give up now. Bret is going to take that ridiculous wing off his car and I'm going to dust off the lawn chair and have a go at the whole car show thing after watching that video of you posted up. And we weren't even going for the track record, just "fast times."

Matt

73CPCAMARO 06-12-2013 08:21 PM

Here is a video my Dad shot at Adams Motorsports Park when I broke the track record. Please excuse the wind noise. It was a bit windy out there in the afternoon.

glassman 06-12-2013 09:20 PM

That was fun to watch....congrats on the run.

Where is that park?

We use PPG exclusively and it is amazing paint. When we converted a couple years ago from solvent to water, we were nervous at first. It has proven to be much better then solvent based paint.

Here are some recent shots of the hood and doors. More to come....

The satin black stripe will be applied later.

It is a custom color we came up with at the shop. Check out the Vibrance Collection. Nice colors there.

Brian

vstol 10-01-2013 02:37 PM

Thanks Brain, I am thinking about colors for my project and orange is one of my options. Kevin
