Hats off to him. I used to have to wax my boss's 48' trailer before each race. It's a lot of work
|
Wow that's a big difference there. Like you said Greg that why you do what you do, Rudy gets it just look at that shin :headspin: NICE!!

Finally got the Girard (brand) awnings installed.... 22 hours of labor at Poulsbo RV... OMG!! But they are TWO 15' awnings coupled - with remote control - and lights - and "windy gauge thingy" so if it's blowing too hard they retract automatically. It's hard to tell in the pics -- but it extends 12' 6"... and that's a lot!
We'll appreciate this "item" on those hot track days! http://i919.photobucket.com/albums/a...e/file-109.jpg http://i919.photobucket.com/albums/a...e/file-108.jpg http://i919.photobucket.com/albums/a...e/file-112.jpg http://i919.photobucket.com/albums/a...e/file-124.jpg http://i919.photobucket.com/albums/a...e/file-123.jpg http://i919.photobucket.com/albums/a...e/file-121.jpg |

Getting stuff pretty squared away....... http://i919.photobucket.com/albums/a...e/file-117.jpg http://i919.photobucket.com/albums/a...e/file-118.jpg |
Greg, that is a really, really nice set-up. So can you fit two or three cars in the trailer? Plus, any room or do you ever need a "pit" bike? just curious...

Dude! Talk about "squared away" sportin' neon now! :mock: ...........I know it's LED and it's cool! Interior is lookin' good.......'cept for da homie bucket. :D |

Awesome personailizin' of da bigg rigg. http://graphics8.nytimes.com/images/.../0222sexes.jpg |

Mike -- It's a three car stacker.... and PLENTY of room for pit transportation... but I just steal Charley's Segway if I need to fall down. I haven't figured out what I want to use for track transport yet.... I can't decide. |
Very nice rig.

Thanks Stuart! I had no idea it would be so much work just to please "His Highness".... I want to make certain that he finds nothing missing that I should have had. BTW -- All those boxes stacked by the stairs -- those are cases of wine being taken to SV house for the Mrs. Apparently she intends to get plowed (not that kind) every afternoon.... |
Greg that right there is the BADDEST Rig Setup In The UNIVERSE!!!!!

You crack me up buddy!! Thanks for that good belly laugh! |
Thats a very professional set up GW.

Greg its a good thing its not "that kind" you'd be to week to drive any of the cars! The rig looks beautiful and very comfortable . That awning will definitely be worth every penny. Do they make a bug screen you can attach?
|
Since we're building -- and moving permanently -- to Sun Valley, Idaho... and plans are to have a shop under the house that can take "the rig" in completely. I thought that maybe it would be "prudent" to see if I could get said rig up the street and turn around in the cul d sac! So thought I might leave the trailer at the bottom of the hill and try it first with just the tractor. I had to do a three point turn with the tractor.... So now I'll have to plan on "expanding" the cul d sac.... or calling my brother in law Rudy... and buy a fork lift. That way I could just drop the trailer - and pick it up on the hitch with the fork lift and move it around. One way or the other -- it's doable.
So brought over a regular car to leave here ----- and my '32 because it's SUPPOSED to get nice beginning tomorrow. I had emailed and asked the Sun Valley Corp folks where they might let me park the rig for a few day - since the condo has no place for it.... and they nicely gave me permission to put it in the lot at the Dollar Ski area parking lot --- which is conveniently located across the street from the condo! That works!! http://i919.photobucket.com/albums/a...ey/file-25.jpg Then I went up to the lot..... so here's some shots of the POS in the cul d sac that I was absolutely certain would be super easy to just do a big azz u turn in and back straight into the garage! The lot is 1.6 acres -- and in these pics I'm standing at one corner (and from here the lot line runs away from me straight down to the cul d sac -- the next white "stake" (to the left in this pic) is another corner -- and if you follow on around to the right in this pic -- you'll find the other corner stake -- from that stake it makes a 90 and runs straight down to the middle of the cul d sac (about where the truck is). The lot is a big rectangle -- with one corner eaten by the cul d sac. Hard to picture in this photo I know! http://i919.photobucket.com/albums/a...ey/file-29.jpg And the view -- and size of the lot -- and location -- is why we bought it. http://i919.photobucket.com/albums/a...ey/file-35.jpg |
Beautiful area Greg. That's going to be awesome!
|
Wondered where you've been. So you were absolutely certain you could do a u-turn?
|
Can you make a road around the property that you could circle around the house to turn the POS around and then back it into the garage so you don't have to turn around in the street. Or unhook and back up the driveway with a forklift. That would be quite some forklift.
So head right up the street pull in your drive way circle the house and pull right back out on the street going the other direction so you can back into your garage. COMPRENDE???? Rodger Why is called Sun Valley? Looks cloudy to me. I don't think we have a cloud in the sky here. |
Quote:
GWEN says you're F'n fired as a designer! No driveway around the house... besides -- a used lift truck is way cheaper. |
Getting in late, crappy weather and then having to mess with a forklift.
Does not sound like a fun end to a road trip. Maybe you could put a turntable in your "shed". Then you wouldn't even have to back in. |
Beautiful right there, not Greg, the location!!
|
Or just do an oval around the garage so you can pull straight in and out :relax:

Beautiful lot BTW. |

It's not only "beautiful" (if you like sagebrush)... but the area is so vibrantly ACTIVE -- skiing - hiking - fishing - AND the best part... it's small town USA like back in the 50's... Everybody is friendly. They actually know your name and you know theirs... And that's the part we like the best. Quote:
Well --- I left with the intention of doing a two "part of a day" trip... so headed out on Sunday around noon.... drove into Oregon -- and knew their was a beautiful scenic lookout up the old Oregon Trail Hwy (okay -- it's off I-84) in the hills just east of Pendleton..... Spent the night there. I WAS all by myself in the lot --- until two woman got towed in --- with a busted down tranny -- pulling a 5 horse trailer. All the noise etc got Stella barking - so had to open the door to check out what the deal is... then got talking to the ladies --- whom were besides themselves with the drama. I fired up the generator - flipped on the big azz quartz lights -- and next thing you know we're all hanging out in the trailer blabbing while they waited on a friend to rescue them from Baker City. The one is a horse vet here in Bellevue -- and the other a horse trainer -- who works for ---- A guy here that has MANY Brizio street rods. In fact the Briz -- and Vic Edelbrock and Mumford et al are coming here in July after Deuce Days in Victoria -- to spend some time with Bob. SMALL WORLD. So ----- I have NEVER liked the way this rig "brakes".... and while sitting quietly - before the ladies showed up.... I was reading up on the controller etc. After setting it the next morning --- I could feel nothing when running it "manually". During a fuel stop I decided to check the master cylinder (they're electric hydraulic brakes) and there's ZERO fluid in the reservoir. That could explain a few things!).... Started to call truck repair shops on the way to see if perhaps we could bleed the system. Found a shop in Ontario that could take me in.... And found two of the six flex lines had holes in them from rubbing against the wheels. A 90 mile round trip to the parts store that had two --- and install and bleed.... took most of the day -- but made SV early evening last night. Still have no trailer brakes though... and frankly "jim bobs" truck and trailer repair wasn't the place I wanted working on my stuff anyway. Will work on getting the system squared away at a dealer in Boise on the way home. So here's the picture story version: So crappy weather wise -- but nice nonetheless.... http://i919.photobucket.com/albums/a...e/file-131.jpg From UNDER the clouds...... http://i919.photobucket.com/albums/a...e/file-130.jpg DA RIG..... http://i919.photobucket.com/albums/a...e/file-140.jpg Peaceful..... Until..... the "girls" arrived. The tow truck could only chain them up and drag them into the turn out... then waited until a buddy could come with his rig to take the horses (5 of them!) and take the girls to safety. It was midnight by this time but WTF - we had fun. They were very appreciative of the lights -- a dry warm place -- a man with a gun.... (reminds me of a Beatles song). http://i919.photobucket.com/albums/a...e/file-146.jpg The next day it was Jim Bobs toothless truck repair..... YES -- I backed the POS in there.... I know you guys won't give me any credit for it. http://i919.photobucket.com/albums/a...e/file-147.jpg AND the nice factory installed lines that rub against the wheels.... IDIOTS. http://i919.photobucket.com/albums/a...e/file-148.jpg AND before the girls arrived --- I pulled out the handy dandy little gas bbq and made myself some dinner... just because you're on the road doesn't mean you can't eat well! And lord knows I wouldn't want to miss a meal! I had built the shelf for the BBQ and spares could ride. Normally this compartment would house a gen set. http://i919.photobucket.com/albums/a...e/file-132.jpg http://i919.photobucket.com/albums/a...e/file-133.jpg http://i919.photobucket.com/albums/a...e/file-137.jpg http://i919.photobucket.com/albums/a...e/file-138.jpg http://i919.photobucket.com/albums/a...e/file-134.jpg |
Hmmm...it is housing a generator of sort and I would have guessed you to be a vegetarian. Wrong again.:drowninga: :snapout:

DUDE! I'm thinking I'll just make the whole cul d sac into a turntable! LOL Quote:
Thanks Stuart! I think.... Quote:
You and Rodger are both fired. Quote:
Like GWEN has said -- this isn't about "YOUR" truck... we're building a house. I agree. I'll figure it out. Actually --- the development has pavers for sidewalks -- and I'm thinking that adding a pavered sidewalk -- in conjunction with the GINORMOUS driveway I'm building anyway -- will give me the turning radius I need. I just don't want to drop a wheel into mud.... or snow... so will measure my turning radius and then work to see what can be built to accommodate that. |

Jawarren (our trainer) asked me once --- ARE YOU EATING WELL? To which I replied --- Yes! I eat really well! He says.... NO! Are you eating WELL? To which I replied YES! I'm eating REALLY well! You see where this is going? :popcorn2: :disgusted: We don't eat anything with WHEAT in it.... we eat ORGANIC if at all possible... but MEAT is a priority... and salad of some kind.... Lucky for me - Gwen had made her world famous Zucchini frittata the Saturday night --- and I had made my world famous Cuccumber/Walla Walla/Tomato salad.... and I was smart enough to bring along some leftovers! I bought a few smaller steaks at Costco --- and marinated them in zip locks (one per bag) and stuck them in the small freezer. That way all I have to do is thaw one out -- and bam! We got a meal! |

That trailer ain't no small gardening trailer. Rodger |
Quote:
You have that almost exactly right --- except reverse it. They don't give property away in Sun Valley... A) not much property around despite what you see -- it's mostly BLM land. B) It's Sun Valley. Can you say Vail? Tahoe? Jackson Hole? |
Quote:
It's actually pretty flat at the Cul d Sac.... and should be very little, if any, grade to the shop.... The trailer is fairly light -- and normally might only have two cars in it. Of course -- I know NOTHING about lift trucks... but my brother in law and sister have worked for Hyster (now Pape) lift trucks for over 30 years -- so I have to lean on them to see what I can get to do something like that. OBVIOUSLY I'll work to NOT have to do that. I'd far prefer to just make the Cul d Sac the radius it needs to be.... and since SV Corp owns the lots -- none of the others have sold yet.... perhaps they'll allow me to do what needs to be done in the way of "improvements". |
Greg, are you eating well? go back and try the turn around in the cul d sac again, this time w/o the blindfold!:guns:
|
|
Probably the first... and last time I'll ever need the big quartz lights. They were really nice for this purpose though!!!

From my condo -- I can see Clint Eastwood's house.... You're EX governator has a home here.... Bruce Willis and Demi's house is for sale here - at 7 million... There are a few available (not shown on Zillow) in the 10's of millions... A crap 2 bedroom condo built in the 70's will start at half a mil. Here's one you should look in to.... They're short of builders here! http://www.idahoairships.com/figge1/figge1.html |

That is pretty cool. If I went out there I'd have to start a new subcontractor base. Takes time to find good hard working subs. I'm living in the last house I built and it took my subs and I 6 months to put up a little over 4600 sf turn key and that included hauling off 900 yrds of dirt and excavating in very rocky terrain not to mention two weeks lost due to rain. The excavator we were using had a 6 yard bucket on it and we were pulling out 4' boulders. I used the boulders to retain the cut at the backside of my lot. Hell, I'm rambling.......back to the fun stuff. Awesome pic's and that looked like a whole lot of fun!! |
It's all fun!!!
The initial plans are for 4000' of "shop" under the house -- large enough to suck up 65' of truck with 14'+ high ceilings... That will ALL have to be excavated. Some of those walls will be used as foundation for the house - but the house is about 6200 sq feet so it isn't a one for one exercise... and the lot is variable with the slopes etc. Get this -- the roof load -- 125 #'s per square foot rated.... |
