Greg that would absolutely kill me to sell that car!!!!!!!!!!:(

Thanks Tracey! You know you would have done this interior except that Roy has his "team" --- and I'm not fighting that fight. I did have to email Sid the other night after he posted pics of the braided door pulls on Instagram... and ask him "where the hell are the power window switches"?? HAHAHAHAHA He hid them in the door pockets 'cause he didn't like the looks of them in the "traditional" interior. I like his way of thinking!!! |

Gotta tell ya buddy ---- GWEN is the one that was the most surprised. But after all the cars that have come and gone around here --- she understands. The best was when she found out my Red '67 BB 'Vette had been completely restored AGAIN (long story on that one - and the owner is still in federal prison)... and was going for auction at Barrett Jackson -- and she said "well - you are going to buy it back aren't you?" I think she's still mad that I didn't. The kids grew up in that particular one. |
Geez, you don't geek out on details at all, do ya?
You should write a book called "Loved and Lost (Cars) of the Pacific Northwest. A Memoir Of Automotive Excess." Or not. |
When I first joined Lateral-g I was starting on my Camaro then I saw your Nomad and was hooked on it. They are one of my favorite cars and would always go back and check it out every time I logged on. Its not even mine and I hate to see it go.

So not sure if the "detail" comment is about the interior -- or the details in my posts.... if it's my interior -- it's really easy to be a copy cat and remember things you've seen that you say "next time". If it's my writing.... I type fast -- and it's just the way I am. LOL RE: Writing a book. It would be a better more accurate book if I titled it -- Wasted days and wasted nights - how to turn a perfectly good car into a loss. |

Thanks Wayne --- and yeah I kinda hated to part with it --- for me I have to remember that this is just a hobby. I'm not a "collector"... I like getting dirty and working on stuff... and while I've had fun working on the Nomad -- the entire car needs to be completely re-done if I was to keep it (I re-did the Red Vette at least 3 times top to bottom!)... and I just have other stuff I'd like to do now. When the kids were home -- I used the days while they were at school etc to bang away on the cars.... now with building a new house over here - that's going to take almost 2 years -- and with the new(er) track cars - I want to do more of that.... and realistically -- it'd be 3 years before I'd start that project and then a couple to complete... and I'd end up with the same basic car I had. It's the same reason I sold my '37 Ford to a buddy. I just knew I wasn't going to work on it for some time -- and then what's the point... ya end up just pushing 'em around the shop. I'd rather just acknowledge "life" and roll with it. When the new house is done -- I want to build a "patina" hot rod... the kind you can drive in mud and snow... well maybe not the snow part... but that's what I decided I want to do. I'm kinda over the whole chrome and show car thing --- so will go racin' and road trippin'. |
My comment pretty much applies to everything you mentioned. :D

Love it GW !!! Colors, interior, wheels, stance and the entire package is turning out fantastic sir !
I'll have to find some pics of one we did at a shop I use to work at. Heidts ifs front and rear. LS7 (with oil tank in trunk) and tremec 6, custom SS headers by one of the guys here on Lat-g - everything polished. Black outside, tan Lewellen custom leather interior, etc... They are very nice vehicles ! Gwen with enjoy driving it ! Looking forward to seeing it in person some time ! Jim |

Thanks Jim!! I hope she likes it... And I think the proof in the pudding so to speak will just be getting her behind the wheel - heading south out of Los Angeles and a nice cruise up Highway #1 --- and cursing around Monterey and Carmel.... that ought to get her hooked! |

Almost looks like they airbrushed the checker board floors on the door panels the paint so good. really digging those wheels Greg!
|
Love that stance, Greg, this car will probably become your favorite!!!
It's amazing, even when they aren't on a TV show they're always ready right before show-time! lol |
Time to hit the GNRS!!! You never know who you might run in to!!! Circa 2004...

Turned out great Greg. I really like the color you guys picked, it's just right.

Now that's a Hot Rod!!
I am in love with that interior. What color is that exterior Greg? (Sorry if you have to repeat yourself. I'm asleep at the wheel. :underchair: ) |
Awesome rodney Greg! Everything about it is outstanding!
The Nomad really had an impact on me though. Way back in the day I had a 55, 56, and a 57. The 55 had a screaming 301 with an Isky solid, 4 speed. That thing would rev to the moon. 7200 redline. One day on the streets of San Diego being a foolish young man, I engaged in an illegal act with a Mustang. The streets were slightly wet. When I hit 2nd it spun of course, and all I remember was seeing the Sun tach somewhere north of 8200...lol That was followed shortly by some disturbing noises coming from under the hood. Limped back home and took the valve covers off. To my horror (lol) I saw 6 pushrods poking through the stock stamped rockers. Ahh...the memories... |
Outstanding car Greg! Very tastefully done! This car is magazine cover bound.

Thanks Rodger.... we'll see it in a few days huh!! Quote:
It's a custom color so I have no idea what the "name" of it is... and the funny thing is -- When I went down to see it after it was out of paint --- Roy had a '32 in the shop (an older build) that was dang near identical... and the more we talked about it - the more I find out they've done several builds - each slightly different - but all in that same color family. Mine was stolen fair and square from Phil Reminington's '27 Track Nosed T.... which the owner was kind enough to remove a panel from and send it to Roy so they could duplicate the color. It was painted by Darryl Hollenbeck - Vintage Color Studios in Concord, California. He'd have the color code and brand info etc. http://vintagecolorstudio.com |

I used to work at Portland International Raceway -- during the late 60's and early 70's... and I owned a '55 Handyman Wagon - 277 cu in - 8 stack mechanical fuel injection - D/Gas car. Body was acid dipped - lexan windows - jacked to the moon in the nose on a straight axle... I'd drop the hammer at 5,000... Muncies didn't live long... and you had to have a real valve train! Only way to make any power was RPM's. If the guy in the next lane was ahead - you ran it up til the nose dropped and shifted... WHAT TACH!?!?!?! It was still pulling! HAHAHAHAHAHA Quote:
Roy has it lined up for a magazine spread... but we won't do that until after the L A Roadsters show in June. I have to keep the car a secret until then. |

If she's not - I'll just drive it. HAHAHAHA |

 |
So much better to run a GM LS motor in a FORD...
Look Ma!! No drip diaper! 480 ponies of pure bliss that don't miss.... |
Oh yeah ---- and running the skinny little LS motor instead of some big old iron block boat anchor of a motor allowed us to pinch the nose.... making that poor old FORD look a little better... HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
|
It looks like you got a great group of guys to put this one together! I love the classy style and hope to go to the show to see it in person.
|
Very nice! And yes, the hood looks great!
|
Quote:
Well -- I always wanted a "Brizio" car --- so now I guess we have one! Thanks! Quote:
Thanks Bryan! Roy and I both thought the hood and the shape of it was important. |
looking good.
hope I get a ride in it someday. |
Looks fantastic buddy! You know what just hit me! This is a top notch build with a very important show looming for it's debut and there is no "OMG are we going to get it done." No all nighters, corners cut, gotta get it to the show drama. I think that speaks volumes as well about The Briz and about you sticking to the plan. :)
|
Quote:
You'll probably have to bribe Gwen with a bottle of red. Quote:
I REFUSE to pay for drama -- or to get something to a show "just because" -- and it's only going to the show because Roy is taking it. I didn't set out to build a "show car" so there's nothing fancy, or out of the ordinary, or custom, in this build... pretty straight forward hot rod. Built to be driven. BUT -- here's what amazes ME -- they've built NINE cars to take to this show. NINE. Not one but NINE all going to debut at GNRS. Think about that number. NINE complete builds start to finish. |
I think Brizio has built more street rods than any other shop on the planet. I'm serious about that. Great bunch of guys.
|
Greg, the car is beautiful. I love the color. Is that like a blue-black or a dark navy? :flashie:
|
Quote:
No..... I think it's called "black and blue dark navy". LOL I really have no earthly idea. It's just a color I saw and I thought was pretty timeless on a build like this. It's very dark blue. |
