Oh, and using the term "sashaying" is against the LatG rulebook, unless of course your user/real name is Sieg :D

I'd never heard the word until I'd taken Sieg with me to the track. Now it's a vision I just can't get out of my head. LOL

Welds mustang

Great to see you Greg and Debasher
We watched Greg running on the backside
After the straight where things are off camber and
dicey. Lotus was smooth running with the Panoz

I ran the Pantera the next day starting with mist on
the windshield. Not the best way to learn a new track
Only pushed the front end once about 4-5 feet in turn
7 and found out you cannot go hammer down in the wet

Mist went away and things were better. Two sessions were partly
wet and finally dry on our third run

Track on the backside is awesome. Not a lot of places to pass but
found a place going up the hill after the first hairpin that I could sneak by.
I run with checkered flag and we can pass anywhere. No spins that I heard of
just fun running. Viper boy and I just worked our way thu the pack
Last one was an Audi V-10 that took me two laps to catch and pass those buggers are faster than the ZR-1's. All in fun

Will definitely do it again. Hope to see some of you all in Vegas

Greg's mustang

I actually know one of the NorCal ZR-1 guys
Hang out with him at the Sharks games
He runs a Z06,ZR-1,continuation 427 cobra
and a family friends 54 vette at the historics
cause the owner is getting too old

Weld and I are heading in that old direction soon
So we might have too get some youngons like
Debasher too run our cars:)

DBasher 10-21-2014 10:10 PM

Isn't it the older you get the faster you go? Or is it, the older you get the faster you were?

Either way...I can't drive. I figure I'll learn as soon as I figure out how to wrench.

Nice meeting you this weekend Pantsracer!

Hey Dave, don't be bitter. Your car will be done some day, or month, or year, or decade. :action-smiley-027:

First time for a sunday drive in green group.......maybe.....but I still got the point by. :relax:

I never realized that Gaetano had run with this group so many times that they adapted their speech around him.

Well I stated in the text train that my car was done. Yes, it sticks like glue front and rear and I can put it anywhere on the track at anytime. That's a fact. But I regress, guess my car really isn't done........looks like I'll just have to find some sort of high end no hassle video cam to put in it now. thanks for fueling the fire.
See you at Sonoma buddy. :unibrow:

You'd better start out with putting in a back up camera.....

Guys -- below is MY electrical box after Gaetano attempted to back in next to me.... It used to be upright... LOL

I think a better choice of words would be CHOSE TO vs HAD TO..... and my guess is that move doubled or maybe tripled his money... which seems to me to have been a pretty f'n SMART choice.

Track Junky 10-22-2014 09:40 AM

Whatever Weld. Build your regime and keep blasting. I'm done talking. I'll leave the rest to the video cam.

Ruh oh! I doubt it but, ruh oh!

Gaetano, I've never seen your Camaro but it sounds like its quite the bullet and even in the last year you've made huge improvements. I'm looking forward to you and the "sandbagger" going some rounds. Weld regime? Or Lat-G fun?

GregWeld 10-22-2014 11:52 AM

It's so much fun harassing each other.... If we didn't - what fun would it be?

The thing about TRACK DAYS --- all the cars and drivers are different. The horsepower and weights - tires - tire sizes - skill levels... If a guy is SMART he'll follow a guy that has some skills even if he could pass them. I've followed many a Miata around the track... a few of these guys are fast, but of course, way underpowered. For that reason they carry a ton of speed thru the corners. And then there are the guys that come out in Porsches and they're not fast at all and are erratic and all over the place. Passing them is not anything other than self preservation... you just want away from them. I've learned the hard way to NOT chase people that are substantially faster than I am! Let 'em go! They tell you to "drive within your limits"! It's words to the wise.

Sieg 10-22-2014 12:09 PM

.........or just tailgate them until they off themselves. Then do the laugh and point bye. :D

Vegas69 10-22-2014 01:04 PM

At least he'll be able to back it up now that he's done talking.

I can relate to that as far as my GoPro goes.

Just found out Traqmate now has a camera you can pick up with there kit. Turn the traqmate on and it will turn the camera on. I'll be picking one of those up.

Hey! That's exactly how GW's SmartyCam works......or doesn't. :D

The GoPro is a complex little camera that takes a reasonable amount of hands on experience as the primary learning curve, once you spend some time with them they work quite well especially for the price IMO.

intocarss 10-23-2014 12:23 PM

All this talent between you ALL and you guys can't turn a Gopro on.. EPIC!!!

^^^^^^^^ What he said!!!!

Like I said the OTEC guys tell us in the drivers meeting --- the checkered flag allows you to tell bodacious lies - take 10 seconds off your lap times - and talk about all the people you passed.

Welds race car

I was going to buy a go pro last week
but decided not enough time to figure it out
Sounds like I made the right call
Viper boy got an iPhone app that was $8
Put a suction cup on the window and off you go
I think the down side is space on the phone

Bob -- My problem is that I'm A.D.D. (really) and just getting suited up and in the car takes all my concentration... trying to figure out all these camera things just isn't on my radar. I only use the GoPro during track events -- which are very far and few between... and by that time I've forgotten all the little nuances. Therefore I bought and installed the AiM SmartyCam in the Lotus.... it's supposed to have autostart - programable via the throttle position - or g's - or a couple other ways. The thing is -- the idiot behind the wheel still has to remember to reset the programing after messing with it at the shop etc. The failure is all mine.

GoPro isn't complex just a pain in the ass to turn on and off where it is attached to my roll cage. Uploading takes way to much time also but will be a lot funner with the Traqmate.

Next GoPro competitor...

https://static.garmincdn.com/en/prod...10/g/cf-lg.jpg

https://buy.garmin.com/en-US/US/prod119594.html

Starting to see a few of these used around here and so far, the guys seem to like them. Here's an example of the video and data from one.

Sieg 10-24-2014 03:13 PM

For an initial launch that's relatively impressive.

Unit size and aero looks good.
Adequate image capture options.
Good selection of mounting accessories.
Wind deflector and external mic compatible.
Preview screen very handy for aiming.
Optional remote, smartphone and Garmin control options.
GPS/Accelerometer/Altimeter/Wi-Fi.
Optional heart rate and temp sensors.

And it's in the proper price range. Ain't competition great for the end user!

Panteracer 10-24-2014 03:22 PM

Greg Track car

I still have a Gamin GPS that is mounted to my dash
of the Pantera.. used it for the Silver State and actually
ran it on two of my Dual Sport motorcycles..It is way old like me
Put new batteries in it before we went to Thunderhill
so I could see what the fastest speed I did (it has a memory)
When my buddies asked me I told them I never turned it on
Sounds like some orange car guy:)

Looks like I get to borrow a Garmin VIRB Elite for tomorrows autox. :)

I'm more interested in the data that comes with the video.

We'll see how well it works compared side by side with the GoPro Hero 3.

We looked at each other and just started laughing, ya right!

Few minutes later you're back in the pits and we're bringing the air pressure down "just in case"....20 minutes later you've just had the best volley between the Porsche and Panoz! Poor Panoz driver was flat wore out! That was some exciting, non-racing, just "cadillacan" action!

I'm thinking you and Gaetano will have your little friendship cruise at some point.....and he'll have some excuse why you ran away from him! :lmao:

Or, finish your car and get to the track....who knows, you may get some fans of your own. lol

Greg, all those parts are going to cost me a bunch of money, I'm going to need a refund.
