I thought of a flexible hose just didn't know what to use, hydraulic hose huh? I'll have to see where I can get hyd hoses from! Thanks for your suggestions! Michael |
I'm not familiar with shark hose. Although, I have heard a trade name of sharkbite fittings... I do use push to connect fittings and poly hose at work but they dont like sustained vibration either, and a blown line can cost me.
I really like that hydraulic hose is rated for massive pressure compared to pneumatics. It's also cheap compare to purpose built flex hose for compressed air, by like pennies on the dollar comparatively. Most Napa auto parts stores can make hose. Anyplace that sells tractor implements is another sure bet. You can get it made with fittings which are NPT,National Pipe Thread. I recommend male NPT on the tank or tank discharge valve connection and a Female NPT swivel in place of your copper connection. If you heed the suggestion consider cutting your copper with enough to spare that you might reuse your unions or fittings in another location. |
My suggestion would be to use a 2-3' 3/4" hose from compressor to wall and run from there with your copper.
I ran my hard lines near the ceiling and my hydraulic hoses run mostly vertical. Condensate collects back at automatic tank drain and rarely reaches a drip leg. I can also move some of the compressors around a little bit for servicing, wall finishing / painting etc... And not have to disturb my airlines or take compressor offline. |
Update 6/1
Thought I'd post some updates on the ol girl ... took a page out of Ironworks book of marvels and craftsmanship and thought I'd try it myself.
Take a look, wished my welder was back from repair ....grrrr! http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/102...921/avSPyR.jpg http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/102...923/2cpl9U.jpg http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/102...924/LXjqu2.jpg http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/102...923/03BNOP.jpg http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/102...921/Adc3rr.jpg http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/102...921/PskB0P.jpg Had the quarter panel off so many times today I can't count em. Little more finessing and she'll be good to weld in place and then cut out the old and weld the tub onto the outer wheel house. Gained almost 2" vertical with this micro tub. Thanks for looking .... |
Good day
in the garage, well for a couple hours before the heat came in!!! Don't know if I'll get used to this heat so early in the summer, oh well ... went to GG Pleasanton yesterday so I had to get something done today.
http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/102...921/5jXSNC.jpg http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/102...923/jldlm0.jpg Well that was a first for me but I think it came out ok, as least I can use the 3 1/2" of wheel travel now w/o hitting the outer wheel well first! Still need to attach the tub to the outer wheel house lip but I'll wait til I get the quarter on and make sure nothing moved! And then trim some of that ugly 1" wheel lip! Thanks for looking ... |
It looks good Chief, nice work.
|
Very well done sir! Nice job!
|
Very impressive do you think you could have done it with the fender attached?
|
that is crazy work right there.
Well done sir !!! |

Update 6/14
Just a quick update ... Finished the micro tub on the driver's outer wheel house and started saving the GM radiator support, didn't care for the AMD stamped one. Anyway, cut out the spot welds, cleaned everything up, prepped marine clean and put some POR15 on the backside. All lined up for welding and then .... a delivery! Yahoo :headspin:
http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/102...921/nhs1BI.jpg http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/102...922/G4wb5R.jpg http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/102...922/sa4IzS.jpg http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/102...921/qDcfWA.jpg http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/102...922/dWo4Mn.jpg http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/102...924/qTWxmx.jpg http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/102...921/BkId2I.jpg Guess I'll finish the radiator support and then go pet my new 6 speed, ... I mean, I'll go and read through the manual from Hurst Driveline. Thanks for looking .... |
You just keep kickin' it!!!
|

Finished the core support, all those weld you had to drill out you have to weld shut takes time. Came out good though and I know it will fit correctly :gitrdun: Thinking of powder coating this and other stuff, there is a company right here is town.... thanks for looking. http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/102...922/eWOJKm.jpg |

Update 7/13
Man does time fly by .... First, I passed the final for my MBA last week, now that's over ... Camaro time! Well until August 9th and then my capstone project starts ...
Here's some car porn, the brown truck came today and delivered my Speedway Engineering 9", what a beauty!!!! http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/102...921/1Xbmns.jpg http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/102...921/PlAV7b.jpg http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/102...923/JDc9l1.jpg http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/102...922/eYG4lJ.jpg http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/102...923/mSOtwo.jpg I primed my T56 and painted it with VHT high temp paint, nothing fancy but it came out cool looking! I'll do my engine block the same when it gets here! http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/102...921/TdPUKO.jpg http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/102...921/8xRejb.jpg http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/102...924/uoXcXK.jpg Thanks for looking .... |
Trans looks great for a spray paint job.
Congrats on the MBA as well. I'm finishing in December and can't wait to quit cutting tuition checks. |
wow looks really good. What did you prime the trans with? also did you take off the shifter or just tape it up? Keep the updates coming I love your build.

I here ya ... luckily my VA benefits paid for half and that's better than a sharp stick in the eye! :thankyou: Quote:
:thankyou: I went to AZone and picked up VHT high temp primer and their high temp caliper paint. I took the shifter off but it was so cool looking I had to put it back on ... |

I was working on getting the new 9" centered and upper links modified to fit the fab 9" when the brown truck showed up ....
I did a lot of research for a proper fuel delivery system for an LS motor and decided to KISS. I didn't care for the looks of the new tank, a quick black spray paint that wouldn't last very long under a car, so I changed that last night ... http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/102...921/mBahIJ.jpg http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/102...924/S3aM2l.jpg http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/102...921/F4C4rc.jpg http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/102...924/rmnfiM.jpg http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/102...921/dz2NSR.jpg http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/102...922/WRbCyV.jpg A big thanks goes out to Matt and his crew for helping me get all my goodies, they are great!!! Now back out to the garage to finalize the position of the 9" ... thanks for looking! |
Some nice looking parts there Chief. That's some sweet welds on that rear end, some talent at work right there for sure. Looking good.
|
very nice work.
I did something similar on my wheel tubs. |
What subframe are you going to use?
|
Kevin ... I ordered a Speed Tech Extreme subframe for my girl, that'll do just fine!
|
/Update
Finished the bracket mock up on the 9" and then did a little of this and that, you know the stuff you have been putting off for awhile .... sprayed some epoxy and cut and re-weld the rear quarter corner that didn't fit follow the OEM tail panel!
http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/102...923/EZt5Jn.jpg http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/102...922/hWNiQr.jpg http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/102...921/JjGkHg.jpg http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/102...921/CEvIYl.jpg http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/102...921/tlVBaK.jpg http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/102...924/vV01cO.jpg I am waiting on my sway bar axle brackets from RT, seems I misplaced the originals, huh? And my rear axle alignment tools should be here soon so I can get the brackets welded in place for good. Not much of an update but it's progress .... thanks for looking! |

Looking good Chief. We racing soon? :confused18:
|
Looks good chief. Don't feel bad about misplacing the sway bar bracket, when I'm done with my build I'll have enough lost part left over I'll be half way to a second build!

Yeah I hear ya, just feel bad calling and getting more parts that I lost somewhere .... Got the second set of sway bar brackets from RT, Thanks guys ... got them mocked up and tacked in place, now I can get all the brackets welded for good. I had one of those "what the halibut" moments, there is no way an exhaust pipe is going to fit in there with all this stuff ....guess I'm going with an under axle exhaust. Take a look and see if there is something I'm missing here ... besides space for an exhuast! Oh yeah, I fiddled with some filler on the outer wheel house and made a big mess. http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/102...923/0Bn6Pu.jpg http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/102...921/G0U6BR.jpg http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/102...922/E6IaYh.jpg http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/102...922/4bDZi1.jpg http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/102...922/1eLO9p.jpg http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/102...922/uptOiR.jpg Back out to the garage, thanks for looking .... |
Good garage day fer sure ... man was it hot though! I love it when a plan comes together, figured I'd best get the passenger side micro-tub going before I installed the driver's side. Broke out the plasma cutter and used my template from the driver's side, took a few measurements, and .... the first time I put her in the tub follows the quarter panel to a T! That's kinda scary :headscratch:
http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/102...922/NHoWqI.jpg http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/102...923/yysbb8.jpg Anyway, thanks for looking .... |
Fine looking build, that's for sure. Looking forward to seeing it setting on all four. :confused59:

Working in the garage when it's not so dang hot got most of the micro-tub welded in the last few days, need to final fit and get the vertical close-out cut and welded in .... phew that'll off the list!!! Then the brown truck showed up today with my radiator .... nice unit fer sure, but there is a lot of wiring in that box, guess I'll have to do some reading soon. http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/102...921/xnyWG9.jpg http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/102...924/jeE7hp.jpg http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/102...922/SDO18z.jpg More tomorrow, thanks for looking ... |
