That desire grows everyday! We are so short at work that all vacation days have been cancelled and there are no reserve pilots if something goes wrong. I know of three more that are about to pop smoke and leave. Ugh

Yup. I hit mine with a scotch brite pad and then cleared it.

Steve68 09-02-2018 05:08 PM

Curtis, My next problem, I was trying to use my ATS plates, which puts the engine to far back in the sub, which plates did you use, I looked at AME didnt see any, thanks

AME sells plates for their subframe.

As Don and Jeff stated AME makes a set. I believe they have updated the design for a better fit since I received mine. A quick phone call and they will have you all set.

Don

Make sure you look at the directions online before you go and try to stab the engine!!

Steve68 09-05-2018 07:08 AM

Again thanks guys for doing the research,

What are theses directions you speak of Curtis?

I found them in the catalog, for some reason I never thought to look there,

When I installed mine, I missed the Note which states... Due to manufacturing tolerances, this area may need to be trimmed in some applications. We had the engine about 1/4" from being right where it needed to be to bolt in and found the mounts where touching the frame. This caused a bit of a head scratching for a few till I revisited the instructions. It was a pain, but we removed, trimmed and reinstalled the mounts. Everything lined up perfectly and fit without issue.

I just wanted to say thank you, Curtis. Not only for showing off the painfully slow build and helping others every opportunity you can, but also for not EVER changing your avatar.

Tonight I raise a glass to you, sir!

There she sits!
To Curtis's credit, he has crazy work schedules lately, plus a buddy having him spend time out in desert/ sand dunes with sandrail (me) , not much lately as for as progress
Hopefully after the holidays his schedule will get better and free up some time for him

Vegas69 11-30-2018 12:22 PM

I hope you are charging him a healthy docking fee. HA HA

Other than the headlight assembly going in....Nope. Like Jeff said my work schedule as gotten to be stupid. To give you an idea, the company has 42 pilot slots and as of last Monday had 10 vacancy's. Well.....Friday two more left and two more (that I know of) have interviews this month. So getting back to a regular schedule probably won't happen anytime soon.

Pretty sure I still have fair amount of rent credit remaining after his car was stored in my garage for a little over a year....which was awesome. :D

I hear you Curtis, we are trying to hire more pilots also. Luckily as an junior FE, I am guaranteed trips to all of the worlds garden spots lol. 4 of out 6 months have been in Africa. Head back in 11 days. My schedule has been 22ish days on and anywhere from 10-24 days off in between. If you know of any guys that are interested in 121 flying (no pax complaining) send them my way. Are you guys required to live in LV? Might have a guy for you.

Glad to see the state of your car, I get mine back on Tuesday.

Does Bonanza time qualify me for the job??? Not sure I would know how to fly if all I had to do was just push buttons.:headspin:

Small update: I had an extended weekend and was able to install the Ricks Stainless tank and the C&R Radiator. Nice to have these big items installed. Not only does it bring my vision into reality, but it also gets a few more big boxes out of the way. The engine compartment is turning out better than expected...so far. Next will be to install the oil tank. It's been slow progress and frustrating, but it's worth it.

I like to call it " The Johnny Cash of Engine Bays". Looks real good!
