Ryan, HKE is out of Houston. The owners names is Eric. And yes the company is good. Eric know his stuff. He's one of the premier builders down here in Texas. You will will be more than happy with the motor. :relax: :relax: Make sure to post up some pics when it's in.

Thanks for letting me know Marcus, they seemed like they have a good rep on LS1tech but maybe don't advertise as much as they used to.

Yes Erick at HKE built my engine and quite a few for my buddies. People send him engines from all over the United States.

Good stuff Tony. I see we share the same taste in many things about our cars

Sounds like the engine upgrade is really going to ratchet things up a bit. I may have said it before, but your thread should be bookmarked for anybody that needs to see what the proper stance on a 69 should be. Your car nails it.

Thank you sir, much appreciated.

I might be going that way also, I have a 383 block for my 69 that came with it, nothing special just two bolt main, LS not in the picture rite now.. for my project. Thanks Keith

Hey Keith, can't really say. It's got a little more duration and lift than my old cam but wider LSA. They wanted me to go with a 114 LSA for better street manners but I wanted a little more chop. On this car I'm willing to sacrifice a little driveability for a nicer sound. I would definately talk to Geoff at EPS the man knows his stuff. And the numbers have proved it.

^^THIS!
HKE can build a mean LS engine. I saw and heard a 4th gen Camaro that had a 427HKE engine and that thing was stout. They aren't cheap, but you get what you pay for.

Hey Ryan, looks like we're both in the middle of a motor upgrade. It's good to be us. Look forward to reading and hopefully watching how everything turns out. Still digging that stance and those wheels.

check with Trevor At Texas speed & Performance. i have them doing some work for mine right now good to deal with and reasonable pricing considering the parts they use.
We are also now a dealer for them.

Ryan I thought you said you were lusting after a 427? Remember those "I want big NA instead of turboing" conversations?!? ;)

Great to see it out, why the tow? No insurance on it? Looking forward to the April cruise, I guess this means I have to get cracking on all my planned winter mods.. damn you!!

Lusting and doing are two different animals Joe. I picked up this shortblock and am doing the swap for a fraction on the price of a big inch motor. That can always be done down the road anyways. I have bigger fish to fry at the moment than spending stupid amounts of money on my car.

Tow was because the roads were icy and salty. So flatdeck it is.

Yup, you better get cracking on your mods.

Ok so there are some other odds and ends I am having done along with the motor swap.

Just ordered a set of these Ring Bros air frame hood hinges from Kim at MCB which by the way was great to deal with:

http://ringbrothers.com/media/catalo...79-1032B_2.jpg

Installing some plain Katech valve covers that I had painted silver, they looked like this before being smoothed and painted.
Also bought some coil relocation brackets and moving them off the valve covers.

Installing a II Much fuel tank vent, what a great idea.
I think these should come standard with all Ricks, Rock Valley and DSE tanks. Or should be incorporated with them as a package.

And an aluminum battery hold down:

Plus cleaning up and fixing some other odds and ends like my ugly ass firewall seam, leaky diff vent, rebuilt my steering box for a tighter feel,
fixing my POS stock heating system, reconnecting my deck and door speakers (who cares I never listen to music in this car)
and fixing my tailpipes they need a little tweaking.

Man these are some great upgrades.

waynieZ 01-24-2013 03:51 PM

Your making some nice upgrades Ryan.
