Thanks Rick. I know you do killer woodwork, so I appreciate the kind words.

The garage looks great Scott. Can't wait to see it done. Just another thing I wish I had....

Scott -- BEAUTIFUL!!
Funny -- I'm looking at your new "shed" and I start thinking I should go out and re-do mine... Actually, I've tried real hard NOT to turn it into a "showroom" just yet... I want to keep it a "working" shop. BUT I'd love to have somewhere to show off the cars in a nice environment. Maybe in my next life. :hail:  |
Thanks! And I won't have any hesitation working in the madeover garage, it will just have a lot more light and storage, not to mention it will just be that much nicer to spend time in.
This week I worked on getting the floor degreased and etched and then used a special epoxy for filling the expansion gap as well as a few knicks in the floor. So much fun. The first layer of epoxy went on last night. This is the same product that will go over the grey colored epoxy that will act as the clear coat and it will have the same shine to it when done. I was stoked and the grey epoxy and flakes weren't even down yet. lol In the pics below, the epoxy has almost cured over. I could touch it and within another few hours and I could have walked on it. That's the same finish/sheen that the flor will have when done. I put the 2nd layer on this morning before work. I also broadcast the black, white and grey flakes on top of it. This evening, I'll be putting the final top clear coat on. I'll post more pics after I'm done. http://www.lateral-g.org/temp/progress_17.jpg http://www.lateral-g.org/temp/progress_18.jpg http://www.lateral-g.org/temp/progress_19.jpg http://www.lateral-g.org/temp/progress_21.jpg http://www.lateral-g.org/temp/progress_20.jpg |
WOW!!
Okay -- the reason I didn't even "seal" my floor - was because of where I live - the "Great" Pacific NorthWET.... and everyone has had horror stories about how SLICK a concrete floor can be when your feet are wet... or oily etc. So I just left mine alone. BUT MAN IS THIS GOOD LOOKING!!! Almost makes it worth chancing a cracked head! (this might actually work some magic on me). Nice work Scott... that is just such a transformation! Do you have room for a couch and a couple of chairs??!!! You might not ever go inside anymore! PS -- I was toying with the idea of just "staining" my floors.... anyone know anything about how well that works in a shop?? I think Charley did his but I remember him not being happy with it for some reason?? |
Thanks! It looks quite a bit different this morning with the grey epoxy and color flakes down. You can add some non-slip sand type stuff to the top clear coat and it won't be slippery.
There's always a bunch of chairs in there. I spend more time in the shop than I do in the living room. LOL I wonder what problems Charley had with his floor? Anyways, I'll have more pics tonight. |
man that garage came out awesome. i like the orange sunset you happened to catch in the first of the five new pics you posted
