I've wanted to drive mine out to vegas fear and loathing style for years, but never have. I think shes ready for such a drive. These cars belong parked in front of establishments  Valet guys tend to prefer parking them out front, and leaving the exotics out back or baking in the hot sun... Note the Lambo with Black leather parked in the baking sun  http://lh6.ggpht.com/__OT3YJ9o9Ao/SD...0/PIC-0194.jpg Parked out front with an SLR http://lh3.ggpht.com/__OT3YJ9o9Ao/SM...0/PIC-0255.jpg The valet guys at the Mondrian Hotel always leave it out front as well. http://lh3.ggpht.com/__OT3YJ9o9Ao/Sm...2014.45.09.jpg The Valet's at The Roosevelt Hotel ask if they mind if I let people take photos sitting in it, I tell them no problem as long as they always let me in the pool  Some young lady posing in it. http://lh3.ggpht.com/__OT3YJ9o9Ao/Sm...2016.57.36.jpg Not sure why, but the Continentals attract more attention than any other car I've owned or been in. People love them, and they're rare to boot. It baffles me why pricing is so low on them, and production numbers were so low. |

With the Camaro, I can see why you like the Lincoln as a very cool cruiser. Nice. Here's a '68. http://i87.photobucket.com/albums/k1...tinental-2.jpg http://i87.photobucket.com/albums/k1...tinental-3.jpg And some specs on it. http://rides.hotrod.com/ride/1003076.../photos/3.html |

http://lh5.ggpht.com/__OT3YJ9o9Ao/Rr.../backwires.jpg I prefer the continentals lowered with some sort of period correct wheel. They ooze class in a semi-stock form. A modern Stereo is a must. Jon if you need some ideas feel free to PM me. I've done 3 different versions of stereos in the car within 10 years, the final setup ended up being 2 downfiring sealed 8" subs, with custom kickpanels with really loud components. A hard top gives you more options than a convertible, thats for sure. |
some inspiration.
http://www.revheat.com/hbomb/hbomb.jpg http://www.designercars.net/biler/Li...inental-11.jpg This car is pretty cool. Total burnout machine. The engine is a 351 Windsor, Procharged with Intercooler, bored out to 427ci, new crank, pistons, heads etc., Typical case of a hot motor with no where to put it  http://rantonthiscar.wordpress.com/2...n-continental/ http://rantonthiscar.files.wordpress...al-custom3.jpg http://rantonthiscar.files.wordpress...al-custom4.jpg Beautiful car though. |
found this a while back. Some guy that runs a car blog spotted me on the 405 freeway.... Small world.

Really enjoying the great pics. |
Some more fun continental pix. My neighbors 1962 and my 1961 together in front of my neighbors home which is a Rudolf Schindler home.
http://lh6.ggpht.com/__OT3YJ9o9Ao/Sc...0/IMG_0406.JPG I prefer mine low... http://lh3.ggpht.com/__OT3YJ9o9Ao/Sc...0/IMG_0408.JPG We both have identical burgandy interiors, except his is all original and mine was redone in cheap vinyl in the late 70s... http://lh5.ggpht.com/__OT3YJ9o9Ao/Sc...0/IMG_0405.JPG http://lh3.ggpht.com/__OT3YJ9o9Ao/Sc...0/IMG_0411.JPG |
Beachwood Canyon. Palm Trees, A big convertible, Hollywood sign, 2 gals in the back seat, life is good...
http://lh6.ggpht.com/__OT3YJ9o9Ao/Sl...0/IMG_1670.JPG On the Warnerbros Studio Lot... http://lh6.ggpht.com/__OT3YJ9o9Ao/R2...0/IMG_2408.JPG Notice the Griswald's house from National Lampoons Xmas Vacation in the background http://lh4.ggpht.com/__OT3YJ9o9Ao/R2...0/IMG_2417.JPG Some random detail shots of mods I've done. 2 8" Subs in a sealed enclosure BEHIND the dash firing at the transmission tunnel. AVI components in custom fiberglass kickpanels, 1000 watts. The stereo in this car is loud enough to have to turn it down at 80mph on the freeway with the top down. http://lh4.ggpht.com/__OT3YJ9o9Ao/Rr...0/IMG_2334.JPG Dakota Digital Ride height controller, head unit, bass knob. I also have the remote control installed for the air suspension controller. It works about 2 blocks away, when someone walks up to the car and leans over,, I'll pop the car up and laugh as they freak out . I did this to Vince Vaugh one morning at Home Restaurant in Los Feliz. Its a great air suspension addition. I'd like to swap out the controller with something that does ride height presets with ride height sensors.... http://lh4.ggpht.com/__OT3YJ9o9Ao/Rr...0/IMG_2336.JPG The tops on the convertibles are prone to shrinkage if they're left down for extended amounts of time. The top on this car was stuck in the trunk for 15 years. You can see the shrinkage. Pardon my gesture, its a friendly gesture amongst my friends  http://lh5.ggpht.com/__OT3YJ9o9Ao/SI...0/IMG_0132.jpg |
Dane,
I'm going to PM you and pick your brain. Thanks for posting up all those photos. Car went off to paint today. Wish us luck. I'm 99% sure I'm going gloss black on the car. But I might get a wild hair up my ass to do the car in matte charcoal grey with gloss black trim. So let's see. :willy: |

I'd reconsider black, due to the giant flat panels you see in 60s lincolns. Its going to require a LOT of prep to get the panels looking perfect, and even then, it'll show a lot of imperfections. My vote is for charcoal gray with black chrome or black trim accents that'd be sexy as all hell. Makes me glad I own a white car, it looks clean with 3 weeks worth of dust on it My daily driver is black and is the first and last black car I'll ever own. |
