I did not want to steal the thread. it is the flagship of our new engine program so i wanted Brian to torture test it.

It is a NA 418 we build, made 504 HP to the tires and 486TQ to the tires, so it is almost square.

He is 2 for 2 since the new engine.

We talked about putting a 100 shot of nitrous on it for the road coarse to help catch Mark but I guess he decided not too. Probably better do that before next year, LOL!

Anybody that builds cars can appreciate what Mark did by bringing a just born car to the track. He was up till about 1:am Thursday night bolting the car together. To work that well on the road course right out of the box is amazing. I hate to see him when it gets it dialed in to it's potential.

And i forgot to mention how bitchiness the autocross was. I almost got jackass out of 1st gear.

Like has already been said over and over, it's a major achievement for both guys but you have to give it up for Brian hanging with a guy who has logged 1000s of road course miles on the Nurburgring no less and built a bunch of world class cars. Extremely well done, to both of them!

Brian's been cleaning up at every event this year but Mark is going to be hard to beat twice in a row! There's a target on your bumper, Brian!

Exactly why I was saying Brian will need the nitrous next year!

Thanks for the news!
Was there just the two events? Or were the cars judged for show points too?
David

Congrats to both.
Dave there were no carshow points however Mark did win the peoples choice by a large number.
The real impressive thing to me is not only is Brian winning on the track, he is driving to and from the events. Proving to me his car is truely "Pro-touring" like the cars that come out of Marks stable. Oh and don't worry Mark, no pictures of the loading yesterday.....haha

Frank, I'm sure you know this, but just in case. That's a big no, no on a road course, way to dangerous.

So what are the specs: bore x stroke, VVT?, Head work?, inquiring minds want to know. :D

ProdigyCustoms 06-21-2010 06:24 AM

Actually did not know that as a matter of fact.

Motor is a 418CI, forged 4340 bottom end, L92 heads, small cam (for a 418), No VVT. Makes right at 600HP and 580 TQ. We are running a FAST LSXR intake and TB on this one.

With a bigger cam we can get more horsepower but lose TQ, so a lot of testing found the perfect balance. That TQ coming off the corners on the road coarse is great. And it is KILLER on the autocross.

These motor are built for boats that run sustained 4000 - 5000 RPMs under intense load. So if they can live in a boat, they can live anywhere. We change the cam specs for more friendly power curve in a car, and use the same guts otherwise.

The long blocks with cam, coils, wires, minus intake, injectors, TB are only $7400.

Ready to run with a FAST intake, tuning / ECM, Road Race pan is under $11K.

So they are a smokin deal. But before I announced our engine program I wanted to run one in the worst possible torture test and know one is driving 1000 to 4000 miles to and from events and running nearly as many laps as Brian! that boy does not need a accelerator peddle, he needs a idle / full throttle switch!

And he is getting 20 MPG with it too!
