Yeah, I guess that's possible, I just don't want too much heat by the fuel tank sump outlets. I will have enough trouble with fuel heating just by the fuel pumps themselves. But it would look very cool ! :thumbsup:

what we are doing on the camaro we are building right now.
if you imagine a 20" wide opening just below the bumper that widens out to about 30" at the bottom of the valance with a slightly rounded profile and a tip that follows the outer edge contour and is about 4" wide at the top and vertical on the inside edge with the license plate mounted between the 2 tips
I can post some pics of the opening on monday but here is a rough drawing of the idea

Sorry to hi-jack this thread..But Killer..Whose wheels are those?? Car is looking great!!

We actually built an Aluminum fuel tank for the car. we cut out the entire trunk from frame to frame and the rear to the factory lap joint at the front of the trunk. then welded in a cross member to mount the shocks and internally mount the tube type sway bar, the end links are actually in the inner fender well and can be seen behind the brake rotor. Then built a fuel tank to fit the hole that was left and the tank is now the trunk floor. with enough room for the exhaust to run down the side with the muffer mounted in the back up behind the rear tire ( where the leaf springs used to sit) and then the tubing flows into the side of the exhaust tip and then out the back.


As for the wheels they are made by Asanti and are 3 peice forged. not cheep but not as expensive as HRE's and they have some very nice Euro styles. the beaumont on the site has them as well but a different style.

3/16 to 1/4 is plenty of room between the paint and exhaust tip...so that shouldn't be a problem, I would HPC coat them though

There shouldn't be a lot of heat back there except during hard driving. The biggest thing I have noticed when exhaust exits like that is sometimes it will leave a sooty residue you have to keep cleaning. I like the idea and was thinking of something like that on my '68. The other thing I would look at while you are messing with sheetmetal is to see if you can line up the reverse light with the tip. Looks odd being offset in the pic.
