WOW! I didn't see this until just now! I'm glad she's in "recovery"! I'd call Doug but he is most likely very busy with the kids - XMAS - and this!

I just talked with Doug. While Cassie has a long road to recovery, she is awake and talking to the children on this Christmas eve. I told Doug this is a time that you really put into prospective what is important in life and that just having her here for Christmas was the best present any of them would have this year.
He was certainly tired and worried but in good spirits, all things considered.
Keep that family in your prayers, and remember to always be thankful for every day you have with your loved ones.
