Snappytravis 69 camaro more pics

Well I am back at it on the camaro, I recently installed brake lines, wilwood brakes, and received the ricks fuel tank, I finally had it sitting on the ground this past week after 4 years, That was a good feeling, I am working on installing the American Auto Wire 22 setup, then should have fuel pump controler from Carl at Vaporworx, and will run the fuel lines. I have had lots of cars and been working on them for over 25 years for a living and hobby, I have learned more on this one then any of them. I have also met a lot of really good dudes on this site, Thanks for the help!

http://i1175.photobucket.com/albums/...psb95ef6e0.jpg First time working with stainless, I purchased a hydraulic flare tool, worked super. http://i1175.photobucket.com/albums/...ps300b25ac.jpg I used a lot of 1/8 filler rod just to mock up brake lines, http://i1175.photobucket.com/albums/...ps319f7b53.jpg <a href="http://s1175.beta.photobucket.com/user/snappytravis/media/69%20camaro/photobucket-69934-1361070270928_zps9814c3f6.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1175.photobucket.com/albums/r638/snappytravis/69%20camaro/photobucket-69934-1361070270928_zps9814c3f6.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo photobucket-69934-1361070270928_zps9814c3f6.jpg"/></a> New invisible wheel, Ultra light and never need polished. AME install

Very nice build ... the AME canted 4 link, how much of a pain in the neck to install? Did you completely grind down and remove the last of the old frame rail and how was the fit? Did you have the car on a rotisserie or the cart?

I would like to install the same unit under my 67 and have read their installation instructions several times to get an idea of the work involved. Did you mini tub after the AME was in place?

Thanks for the pics .... do you have any install pics you could post? I have the same wheels on my car, but ... the tires are also invisible!!!!!!

Are you going to put that cool tow bar bracket back on the front?

snappytravis 02-17-2013 12:01 PM

Ya could you imagine it probably was towed by a winnebago
It looks like it came loose a few times subframe was a little ruff on the frame horns

I decided since I was being lazy today I would post up a few progress pictures of the car.

I ended up having a custom inlet built for the supercharger. I had major hood clearance issues with the inlet that I had to begin with. I turned out overall pretty good and I have had the car running. That was a major milestone. It is a ls3 413 with a 3300 lysholm setup from Wegner motorsports. I am using a holley hp ecu. with ctsv fuel pump.

I had all the bodywork done and then got a wild hair to tuck the rear bumper and shave the drip rails. It was a little pain in the azz.. but looks pretty good.

Wheels,, Finally this was a hard decision for me. There are so many nice wheels on the market. I went with rushforth rated x, They fit very well. 19x12 on the front and 18x10 on the rear.

Attachment 51038

Michelin Pilot SS for rubber, I debated about going with a tire leaning more towards auto x. I would like to drive this car and in Wyoming anyplace we go is pretty much min of 100 miles.. So I went with the Michelins. You can buy cheaper,, but can you buy better? 275/35/18 front and 325/30/19 on the rear.

Heat exchanger for the supercharger, This was pretty one of the first that cr racing built. I waited for a few months for this as well. It is a very nice piece. If you ever need anything Paul Hammond is a good guy to deal with, very professional and returns calls. I also purchased a radiator from them. It has the oil cooler and ps cooler built in. However I looked at the cooling system as insurance for the engine.

Attachment 51040

Ricks fuel tank with ctsv pump and vaporworx controller, Pretty cool stuff, to bad such a beautiful part is under the car.

Attachment 51041
Stainless fuel line from tank runs down the inside of frame rail.. I learned a lot about stainless. I would use it again. I may do a few things different.

I have done all the work on this car myself, the lack of resources living in the middle of Wyoming makes you learn.. or figure it out.. I have also learned a lot from all the lateral-g members.
Thanks for the help Guys.

Hope everyone enjoys my update pics, and I plan to have it on the road next year.. Long cold winter in Wyoming.

Build Thread Update Asphalt Cowboy!

9 Attachment(s)
So I figured I needed a name for my build project 69 Camaro. I decided Asphalt Cowboy would be a good one with the help of a few members of the forum. It seems that if you live in Wyoming everyone thinks your a Cowboy and own horses or cows or something that eats hay and sh*ts in the field. Well not this guy, the closest thing I have to horses is horsepower.. The real deal.. I am updating a few pictures on my build and will give a little detail on each picture. Thanks for looking and as always the feedback.

Hideaway headlight setup, with dse motors works great. Thanks for all that gave input before I ordered this. Grille fits good. Had to do a little shimming on the lights but nothing to bad.

Attachment 53738

Built hood latch. CR racing heat exchanger was to close and also installed quick click safety latches on the top of hood.

Motor and transmission out for the 20th time.. The red board with carpet on it is a gravel creeper,, That was before we had a shop with a concrete floor.

Attachment 53741

This picture I original had the ac lines running through the firewall. I ordered a bulkhead fitting and new ac lines with the aeroquip ez clip fittings. Probably was not necessary, but that's how car guys do stuff

Attachment 53742

I showed a few people this picture of the car on the rotissierie and the said that's how it was the last time they saw it 3 years ago! I had to explain I had it running and backed out of the shop. Then tore it apart again.. Some more grinding and welding. I will be either a good welder or grinder when I am done with this car..

Attachment 53743
I shot some dp90 on the frame and bottom of the car. Then used Eastwood ceramic chassis semi gloss black, Turned out pretty good. I thought about powder coating but did not want to be at the mercy of waiting on someone else and for touch up purposes.

Attachment 53744
Sprayed the frame this morning, Will let it dry a few days, then try out the Upol Raptor stuff,, Then some shiny paint on the outside,,:thankyou: for everyones advice, would be hard to build a car like this in the middle of Wy without Lateral-G!
