Congratulations!!
We have three, one of each (old Rodney line) It's a trip watching 1/2 of u in someone else. And even if you adopt, it's still the most beautiful thing to help mold, grow and most important, to love... Good luck, and don't forget to continue to date your wife....the best thing you can do for you children is to be best friends with your mate.... Mike |
Congrats! You will soon learn a few rules of life.
1. There is only one thing harder than going through anything difficult yourself.....it's watching your child go through it. Even something as simple as a minor embarrassment. No one wants their child to have any inconveniences, however, remember some of these will make them stronger. 2. Focus on the legacy and influence you have on your child. Once they are 18 or even before then, your influence is all that keeps them on track. 3. You will understand what it means to love and care about someone more than you love yourself. IT'S ALL GOOD GUYS! |
congradulations to you and the wife!!! I have a 21 month old boy and its a great time.
No joke man get your sleep when you can. I was up 72 hours straight the first week and it was tough for the first year. Birthing was the most intense situation I have ever been through. Nice name !!!! He's got some big shoes to fill. Keep him on colostrum till he's 10. LOL |
Congratulations to you and your wife. This book is your friend, read it:
http://www.amazon.com/Healthy-Sleep-.../dp/0449004023 It should be called Healthy Sleep Habits Happy Child, Happier Parents |
You guys all echo some great points. We took 7 night classes ranging from breast feeding to car seat installs etc etc. It seemed like a drag at the time, but man it really helped. The colostrum is a huge deal for a newborn and we are so lucky he is so apt to breast feed. The benefits are pretty massive so we are happy. I keep hearing about the lack of sleep that's coming so I'm enjoying my hours I can rack up now. It's only been a couple days, but this kid's been perfect so far.
Today while holding him, I told him all of the things I would teach him. It felt so cool just talking to him like he's understanding what I was saying. I know there will be many tough days ahead, but it's been the two of us for so long, I welcome the change. I will also finally get to cash in on having both mother in laws live within 3 miles of us! built in daycare! |
Congrats, very glad to hear everything went smooth. You are blessed having a mom in law close too. And good to hear you are breastfeeding the kid.. you will a have a much healthier child.

It will go by fast. The first 3 months of our twins were trying to say the least but now they are 18 months and there is nothing better after a long hard day than hearing in stereo "da da da da da da da" when I open the back door. My wife says they have figured out about the time its getting dark I should be home soon and start looking out the back window every few minutes. She says they finally hear my truck (cummins with no muffler) and make a b-line for the back door no matter what they are doing.

Congrats, Dave. Glad everything went well. We echo what everyone said.
Definitely the builds will slow down. But it's a good thing! Tim and Sam |
