Yeah they're far worse built than I though. Nothing like 14 spot welded to 20 with zero seam seal or corrosion protection. The build standard and geometry is a joke. I can't wait to drive it with the new gear.

Big day yesterday. Stabbed the 408 in with the Tremec behind it. The trans is an MMR900 which is supposed to be some high zoot deal. We'll see. The scattershield is a McLeod and the clutch an RXT from the same folks. We ended up making a pretty good size hole for the tans but it looks like the tunnel will barely fit the driveshaft so I think the major surgery is over.

No big brakes for this car. I'm running a 15 inch wheel and trying to keep this thing a featherweight. http://i394.photobucket.com/albums/p...psjqhlnafd.jpg http://i394.photobucket.com/albums/p...psktqx63xv.jpg http://i394.photobucket.com/albums/p...psec0qlu0y.jpg I'm really impressed with the R&C Motorsports stuff. Everything went together perfectly and the quality of components is outstanding. I'll be making new inner fenders and a firewall once the bead roller shows up. More to come! |
Nice work!

Thanks Jar. It's been a really fun project so far. Now header mania begins. Could be a real pain figuiring it out. Sounds like most guys are having good luck with Headman stuff so I'll try that first.

Nice car, I love the body style and you've got some sweet parts to go with it. It's going to be interesting.

Slow your roll down there player! You're going to build 2 cars before I get one done!  Looks great Dave! I'll come by and check it out!

Aw come on Brent. Get your magic pants on and get that Chevy done son! My goal is Vegas 2016 as I think is yours as well. Do I smell a drag race on Convention Center drive coming?

Straight from Mr. Ben Hermance. Dude's a treat to work with. Now we have a road map. I like the way he rendered the oil cooler in the bumper and the boom tubes. Color will be Supersonic Blue.

Looks BadA.. Dave
Are you going with Glass Bumpers? We purchased the Crites units for my Daughters 63, they are real nice quality. May I ask what brand those Valve covers are, they look sick! I am like a little kid (but I am 59) every time I get an email about this build. Thanks, Joe |
Thanks Joe! The valve covers are from Blue Thunder and are their competition style units. I think they're out of business now but I saw these pop up on eBay and snagged them.
Yes on the bumpers and hood. Those are coming from Crites. Their glass is pretty good quality and fits well. I'll glass in an aluminum brace into the front cover and mount the oil cooler to it, then run a pair of -10s under the rad support and to the engine. Thanks for your support on this one. Sometimes I really need it. |
