He (BC) was known to build cars that were "show cars" - i.e., wouldn't come out of the shop being able to run and drive. For whatever reason -- the public doesn't know about that. You'd have to talk to builders etc that actually know the true history behind many of his builds. Not saying his designs and ideas and cars weren't cutting edge or cool (some were some weren't).
If you want to see his "build qualities" and the guys in his shop --- watch the series of American Hot Rod where they build the "Junk Yard Dog". They cut door and trunk gaps in the bondo with a box cutter... and the idiots that are attempting to put the tranny on the motor... pound it and wrestle it and generally abuse it rather than stopping to figure out what's wrong.
I'd heard the rumors and stories.... but once I built the SAR '32 and the Brizio '33 -- people come out of the woodwork with stories. |
