I wanted something a little more cool for a lower valance than what Ford had. While surfing pictures here on Lat G one day I saw a photo down low of someones 69 Camaro, and I thought the front valance had a cool look. I like the driving lights aspect and also thought that the V peak up the center matched perfect with the bumper and hood line.
So I bolted my Maverick valance down on a work table to keep its shape. In the can time I had purchased the 3 pieces for the 69 valance. I cut all the pieces up and welded everything together to make one part. As you see here the only thing left of the Maverick valance is the wheel opening area and where it bolts up to the bottom of the fender. http://i266.photobucket.com/albums/i...psced9efa6.jpg http://i266.photobucket.com/albums/i...ps75c5a3cd.jpg This is how bad the bumpers fit from Ford. I did decide to tuck them in, but admit I didn't go to the extremes some of you guys do. I just wanted a tighter fit that I think the factory should have done….. The bumpers have since been sent out to Advanced Chrome for their perfect work. http://i266.photobucket.com/albums/i...pse4cfd082.jpg http://i266.photobucket.com/albums/i...psf5971eb4.jpg http://i266.photobucket.com/albums/i...ps54072eb3.jpg http://i266.photobucket.com/albums/i...ps969951c4.jpg |
Time to strip all the factory paint off the car and put it in epoxy….

I am good friends with Ralph Lisena the owner. http://i266.photobucket.com/albums/i...psdcef4d4d.jpg http://i266.photobucket.com/albums/i...psa98c430c.jpg |

Nothing crazy, just a few style points…. http://i266.photobucket.com/albums/i...ps9b230108.jpg http://i266.photobucket.com/albums/i...ps89f58c10.jpg http://i266.photobucket.com/albums/i...ps2e69edaf.jpg And then back in the booth for more primer….. http://i266.photobucket.com/albums/i...psc4ec590c.jpg http://i266.photobucket.com/albums/i...psaed4411d.jpg http://i266.photobucket.com/albums/i...ps226c9713.jpg http://i266.photobucket.com/albums/i...ps869f1be7.jpg http://i266.photobucket.com/albums/i...psd0ccbae1.jpg http://i266.photobucket.com/albums/i...ps7a70d2ad.jpg http://i266.photobucket.com/albums/i...pse51f1e41.jpg http://i266.photobucket.com/albums/i...ps94e64e6c.jpg |

Home from the booth and back in one color primer……
http://i266.photobucket.com/albums/i...ps65631987.jpg http://i266.photobucket.com/albums/i...ps285e3cce.jpg And again ganging all the sheet metal for fit and see how it all looks together in one color…. http://i266.photobucket.com/albums/i...ps05e60ba5.jpg http://i266.photobucket.com/albums/i...psdbc1d215.jpg http://i266.photobucket.com/albums/i...ps7607f41a.jpg http://i266.photobucket.com/albums/i...ps0a3be46b.jpg http://i266.photobucket.com/albums/i...ps94bf2a08.jpg http://i266.photobucket.com/albums/i...ps66f50924.jpg http://i266.photobucket.com/albums/i...ps0f1f638b.jpg |
I decided I want to make the car a roller and get it on all fours before doing any final gapping. With that the car will need to come off the dolly and have all the new suspension installed first. I figured I would paint the engine compartment now so that I can install the drivetrain completely as well.
http://i266.photobucket.com/albums/i...ps8d1232ce.jpg http://i266.photobucket.com/albums/i...ps47b4bc4c.jpg http://i266.photobucket.com/albums/i...ps27241e38.jpg I decided that I wanted the engine compartment to be body color, but with a matte clear. I am painting the car using PPG from start to finish. The base coat is PPG's Envirobase water base system, and for the matte clear I used the Global D8115 pre matted clear for a uniform look. http://i266.photobucket.com/albums/i...ps0f5146ca.jpg http://i266.photobucket.com/albums/i...ps089227df.jpg http://i266.photobucket.com/albums/i...ps69a03a8a.jpg Back at home I decided to remark everything and spray the cross members and "frame" rails and spray them a matte black. I know it's anybody car, but I kind of like how it gives it a look of being a subframe….. http://i266.photobucket.com/albums/i...pse9791da6.jpg http://i266.photobucket.com/albums/i...pse19e5446.jpg http://i266.photobucket.com/albums/i...psc3dd38b7.jpg http://i266.photobucket.com/albums/i...ps8030373f.jpg http://i266.photobucket.com/albums/i...ps3531c030.jpg http://i266.photobucket.com/albums/i...pscee96f09.jpg http://i266.photobucket.com/albums/i...pse2652a76.jpg |
I really like the color choices you've made with the car. I think you nailed your grabber stripe design, too. The black frame rail area should look good and help hide dirt or oil that would stick out like a sore thumb on the blue. Love the build. Keep up the great work! Thanks for sharing the pictures.

Glenn, that is looking increadible!!!!

That's a lot of hard work, and it shows in the finished product.
Great job Sir  |
