If you really want to get serious about polishing it - this would be my method.

I would get a DA (they make with smaller orbital paths for color sanding application - we have a Dynabrade, but I can't remember the specs). You can get discs for it all the way down to 3000 and 4000 grit. Start with whatever is required to work out the scratches/grinder marks (some of them may be starting with 220 from what I see). Work your way up to 2000 or 3000 and then I would buff it either with a normal buffer or I may even try an orbital buffer and some normal compounds.

Any way you look at it - -this will be a massive amount of work. It would look awesome though.

The part that would stink is that you would have to constantly be polishing on it. I may just DA the whole thing with 220 and be done with it!

Thanks Brandon, I'm going to borrow some equipment from a buddy and see what happens. The back up plan is GTWayne knows a guy that has experience polishing....something about airplanes.

Something else I've learned, this thing attracts a lot of attention! I need to put up some "No Trespassing" signs at the end of the driveway! For every decent person I've got 3-4 weirdos that want to know about it. I don't like people on my
property. :bigun2:

There are probably some chemicals that will really brighten up the aluminum, but they wouldn't do anything for the scratches/grinding marks. They might be a good way to remove the oxidation though.

Man...that thing is sweet! Maybe I missed it, but what year/model is it? Totally jealous of that find!

It's a 1959 Grumman Olson Kurbside. What I've found is it isn't very common, it's shorter than most and single rear wheel. 103" WB and the cargo area is only 8', GVW rating is 10K, with the spring pack in the back it should haul quite a bit of plywood!
