What is the differences on all these steering boxes? I have not really gotten into it so much.

I have a Sweet box in my Firebird.
The nicest Steering I have felt was in my 87` Oldsmobile 442.
Both cars are about 2.5 turns lock to lock. 12.7:1 box.

670 vs 700? what is the difference? The G-Body has a 700? Has it not?

I'd recommend you stay away from the AGR. I used to have one and it was pretty bad.

My first post here but have experience with Turn One. I currently use a Turn One box on my 70 Buick Skylark. I wanted to improve the steering feel and take some weight off of my 70 Skylark. For me Turn one is a 50 mile drive so went up to see the shop and talk with Jeff. The shop is not huge but very professional. Jeff used to work down the road at Saginaw Steering (now Nexteer) so has more background with these gears than anyone. He went over what would work for my Buick and some of the things I needed to correct. One of the big problems I was having is could not get all of the air out of my system. Jeff focused on the remote reservoir I was using. Seems that the reservoir design was much more important than I was aware of. My reservoir did not have baffles and the return from the pump did not go into the bottom of the reservoir. I ended up having Lee build a reservoir for me because Turn One did not have one at that time.

Next they checked my Sweet pump on the pump dyno so we knew that it matched the steering box. Finally they gave me a good deal on a box they had in stock that had a little surface rust (a few small spots that I just painted over) and have not looked back. Steering feels great now.

If you get a steering box from SC&C, ABCperformance and I think DSE you are getting a Turn One box. Many Nascar teams use the Turn One box. Cannot recommend them enough. Hope this helps.

We are going to talk with Turnone about getting setup. However, it appears their boxes are B/O too!

I have an AGR in one of my cars and really like it. Nobody seems to want to give a date on the 600 series boxes... There is basically NO ETA as of right now.

I really like the feedback and feel from my Sweet 600 series with 0.250 valving. The effort level feels like my old manual box while at speed, with a much quicker ratio, and plenty of assist during slow maneuvers. If you don't want to work that hard, you can go all the way to 0.185. You can get a variety of ratios, too, from 6:1 through 16:1. They aren't cheap, though, as Blake mentioned...

Another option is to send your factory steering box to Chip at power steering.com. I was running into the back order issue as well and heard about Chip on a Chevelle forum. I sent him my 69 Camaro box and he rebuilt it with a 12.7 to 1 ratio. The thing looks brand new and performs fantastic.

What did it cost you and what box do you have? I'm assuming you haven't been able to drive it yet?

Sorry it took me so long to reply. I've been out of the country. The cost was around $500. That included the additional detailing, shipping, and refurbishing the rag joint. Mine also had been covered in epoxy after the car was media blasted and it took a lot of work for Chip to get that all cleaned off to detail it. The box is the factory Saginaw power steering box that is original to the car. I have driven it and it drives like a new car. Of course I have several other updated suspension components that add to that as well.
