After waiting my wife says put it on Ebay, SW see's it and now decides he wants it again, so he calls me and I make a deal with him without checking with my wife, now I don't care what anyone says, the car is hers and thats no BS, my name is not on the title. She says she won't sign the bill of sale to SW because theres already bids on Ebay and its not fair to the people who have already bid.
So here's my situation: do I risk divorce, piss of SW, piss off the bidders or all the other people who keep offering me money to end the auction or let my wife do it her way?
I decide to have my wife call SW and explain her decision.
I regret backing out of the deal with SW and the only way to be fair is let it run on Ebay. SW did have the oppritunity to buy the car before it went up for auction. What would you do? I think my wife made the right decision.
SW, I'm sorry your mad, you can still bid!

If I was not interested in the car, I wouldn't have wasted my friend Dennis' time coming over to look at it. I did want the car and our last conversation was, "we have a deal". This is a small community and most everyone knows each other. I just got off the phone with the guy in New York that wanted to buy both of your cars and he thought he had a deal with you also... I guess when I make a deal with someone, I stick to it. Good luck with the sale and I hope you get more $$ than what we agreed on...

Well, you admit you made a deal and then backed out. Not very honorable in my book. :(

I just want to thank everyone that has thought about this situtation for your opinions, it means alot to me. I guess I get too emotional about car stuff and I shouldn't. It's not the end of the world, there are other cars out there. Everything is good, I will end up building exactly what I want. I have been talking with Rick Flores, he had 2 mustangs at SEMA last year, said he would be glad to help me out..

thanks again everyone.

Sounds like a simple phone call to confirm or deny before putting it on Ebay would have solved everything. A little communication goes a long way.

It actually hit Ebay when he didn't hear back from SW, although SW did try to contact him. They made a deal Monday when the auction was running, but later his wife said no.

Unfortunately he should not have made a deal if he needed to talk to the wife first. I've been married for 18 years so I understand the issues there, though I'm fortunate in my car dealings, as she has no input on those, they are totally up to me.

I hope it works out good for both sides.

SW you made him a very good offer. Better than flea bay will bring, probably. You are very credible. Build your own and don't look back, IMO.

Nice car Jody.

SW, you have always been a great guy to everyone on both the PT sites, always willing to share news, pictures, and info about your incredible collection. I know you have personally helped out fellow members in the past, and I am sorry this happened to you.

I think you have the right attitude though! There are ALOT of cars out there! You have proven very able to build your own kick a$$ cars when looking at...EVERYONE you own! Good luck and keep us posted on the outcome! Should be one sweet ride!

SW-
You are in the car biz. You know you have some good deals and some bad ones. So go build what you want. Tastes change and it's always the "little details" that really make the difference. You have the other rides to enjoy that much more in the meantime. Can't wait to see the magazine article with the new ride in it when you complete it. I'm sure it won't look like a Yugo...

If they want to play that game, I really don't want it. If I bought it now, I would think about the way I got screwed around everytime I looked at it.. There are other cars out there or I will build one exactly like I want.

Well if that's the case...both he and his wife can take a flying *bleep*!!!

Yes, I admit I backed out, but I truly did want to sell the car to SW. You guys may say I'm a "tool" or whatever but, its a sticky situation.
The best solution is to sell it to no one and let the auction go. Also I never agreed to sell it to "NY Brad", he made an offer and I told him the same thing "if you want the car, Bid. I can't single one guy out."

Please don't bash me or the cars and I'm not bashing anyone here. My wife and myself thought this was the only way to be fair.
