We did a lot of metal work to the nose , not sure if a stock grill will fit anymore

looks great without the grill! metal work looks good. And I don't agree that it has to go cross country to make it a driver

The car has very extensive and beautiful work done to it. But personally the grill is the only thing that I like on the car.. I think it is the rest of the car that is too busy..

I like the idea of cutting the grill down to fit in the opening to the radiator; if you feel the need to change it.

My car is also candy tangerine with stock grill, I was debating on making a billet grill. In the end, I probably would of powder coated it black.

comp-spec, if you paint the architecture behind the grille a titanium or silver color instead of body color it will help to wash out those features and not make it contrast as much. The titanium color is close to the aluminum color. Black is NOT an option.

I think it would look much better if everything behind it were painted satin black. I know you said there's nothing else on the car that's black, but IMHO, you should never be able to see anything behind the grille.

I would paint everything behind it black, and tint the headlights just a bit to make them less noticeable. I would also paint all of the vertical bars that hold the grille together black also. Doing all this would put the focus on the grille itself, and not all the stuff behind it. It would look pretty clean then.

I have the pleasure of seeing this car at many events throughout the year since it's in my neck of the woods.

First, the car looks awesome, the craftsmanship is phenomenal. I know wild modification was the intent. However, I personally thought the grill has a clean but dated look to it. I actually like the shapes behind the grill better than the grill itself. (which I know you probably spent a ton of time on). I've never been a fan of body colored panels behind grills anyway. I always preferred satin black. I also think if you are keeping the grill, recess it about 2 inches and maybe leave the forward facing edges polished while the rest is satin black. ( think that was mentioned before).

You weren't looking for this feedback but I also think a rectangular taillight (more stock) would fit the shape of the panel better. The Vette taillight mod is also a little dated, even if it's from a C5 Z06. Maybe do some recessed or flush rectangles and paint the tail panel satin black. (it may tie in the front/back)

In the end, do what YOU want. It's a kickass car no matter what you do! :D

I ran with Pete on Power Tour. That car hauls ass and takes a good beatin'. Maybe it's a show car, but he didn't treat it like one--rain or shine. Which is why he's UPDATING it.

Then again Pete, I never noticed all that incredible metal work behind the grille. It's time to stop hiding it. The center opening is small enough that you can take a factory 67/68 RS grille and cut it down to fit. Then build a shiny stainless or chromed perimeter frame for the new cut down grille like the surround used on a 69 RS grille. Paint the plastic grille whatever color looks right to you-titanium, charcoal, argent.

Are you changing the wheels? I think the "flame" wheels are unnecessary given the paint job and body mods. Plus you can match the wheel center color to the grille color.
