Words can't describe how wonderful it is to have such an awesome extended family as you guys. Thank you for all of your kind words and support.
Dad has been terminally ill for the last year and a half, but his passing still comes as a shock. It's hard to believe that I won't get to look him in the eye anymore; or sit with him; or talk with him. That is my loss. But at the same time, I'm so glad that he gets to sleep now.
Over the last couple of days, I've had the opportunity to remember events that faded in memory long ago. Such is the case as we get wrapped up in our lives. We can sometimes forget what brought us to where we are. I know I did. Dad was responsible for shaping my personality, my values, my instincts and my passion for creativity and problem solving. And he was very good at saving my ass when I tripped up. His wisdom was often stark, calculated and bullish. "This is how it is. Go do it."
Shut the world out for a moment and ask yourself what your father passed on to you. Then carry the answers with you always.
