It's pretty easy to pick out a true big-block car if it has 2 fuel lines, a 3/8" with a 1/4" return. L34 and LS5 were the only ones to recieve the 2 fuel lines. L78 and LS6 did not have a return line, but I don't believe either were available on a non-SS car, so if it has a single 3/8" line, it was a 350 car, and if it has a single 5/16" line, it was 307 or 6-cyl. |
nah i wasnt saying it came with a 454 from the factory
i was saying the guy USED to have a 454 in it when he was dragging it. but he didnt drag the car much.. weird as that is. and can you tell what it was from the Vin? 7013637RTO9967 |

That looks more like the first line on the Trim Tag, rather than the VIN. 70- 1970 13637- Malibu Sport Coupe (V8) RT- Probably BT, which would mean Arlington Assembly Plant 09967- Plant Tracking Number -Todd |
I'll buy it if you dont and if you do. I can double your money right now.

I think '68 was the last year that you could determine if it was an SS from the VIN codes. A build sheet or protecto plate are really the only way to tell for sure. A 12 bolt and dual fuel lines are general indications that it may have been a big block car.
