Again i agree, Someone got a pretty sweet deal , but i guess thats why its an auction! besides anyone know what he had in this car to build? with the engineering alone and labor would have to be crazy high. But such a pedstal car! one for all to shoot for and where the standard may fall from now on out,
But with that said Does this slow down all the Barret hype that everyone thinks they can make 100 k profit on there car now, May have the high end bidders scrathing there heads look at Barry white "not as a comparision by any means" but for an example his show last year on building those auction cars is the price time and sweet and tears not to mention all that jack really worth it and to be dealt a card hand like this kind of reminds you of a texas hold card game you think your ahead until that ace turns overs to beat ya. Good luck Bob and hope to see the next build.

I thought it would have brought more, but had my doubts Bob would get all his money back. It seems the BJ crowd doesn't appreciate this kind of build as much as an untouched car or one with a lot of history....I do think it could have been presented a little better before bidding started, they basically said it was a one-off car that had a ton of hours involved, but didn't really tell the people what it was. Also, it seemed Craig was getting nervous at the end but couldn't get anyone involved...I'm sure he thought it would have got much more....we all did!

WOwzaaa, should have been a lot more. We see those rusty buckets with 1000000$ reserve on Ebay all the time. Greatest machine of all times? :hail:

I guess to do well at Barrett's Carroll Shelby has to sign your car!!!!lol

Well...

I had given 225k as the price i tought it would sell for in the contest we have here. Seeing it "Standig" around 250ish figures got me thinking i was in. Then that JUMP (?) Maybe we'll get the scoop soon.

Its a Neat car, but yeah, i don't think everyone wants a million dollar 'Cuda. I guess it all depends on who is there, what BJ auction your entering the car surely has to do too (some more High Perf oriented than others vs some more #'s match cars style.

Also, the presentation could/ would have helped...If your not aware of what your buying when bidding on that kind of car, it may look like a nice car and all, but kinda like many others too...So what's to justify its cost? Not saying its ordinary at all, just that people that are bidding may sometime be guided /interested more by the looks of the car, so paying 1 Million begins to be expensive for a "good looking" car...so they stop there in their heads and are not totally aware of what they are getting if they dont have the proper story to present the car accordingly (Hence the proper intro could have helped. You know, emphazing on SMOY and stuff like that to explain what they we're getting!).

I had posted that price (225) because thats what i tought it would fetch. I just don't know why i had that feeling?

I think its getting ridiculous to a certain point too that those cars are going for that kinda cash. Come on, its a nice car but its getting :faint: .

On the other hand, 5 Millions for the 'vert Hemi was the sky compared to this soooo....I guess you only gotta remember its a game that's played like that; Win some Lose some!

Oh well. 'Wishing Bob will do better next time,(and that a friend of his bought the car) meanwhile i'll just go back to my under 500k car build...

Lead.

P.s; Yeah, what was the build price again? And what would a reasonnable profit would be?

CRCRFT78 01-21-2007 09:05 AM

Hell BJ could've thrown in some vaseline with that price knowing Bobs' getting screwed on that deal. I hear some of you say the intro could've been better but how can people in the car industry not have heard of this vehicle. I didn't see it on TV but I do think alot of these auctions and sales are rigged myself.

I'm not suprised... I expected 750 on the high-end, but didn't think it would go under 600. The number of people looking for a car like that is significantly less than those collecting rare original stuff. Modified cars are entirely built to taste, and everybody's tastes differ.

While I like most of the car, there's a bunch of stuff on it I'd change if it were mine... hell, just about everybody's car on here has something I'd like to change, especially my own :D (damn budget!)

The more wild a car gets, the smaller the group of interested buyers gets... the same ratio is true for price-tags. There just aren't enough people out there with a half-million plus to spend on a car that are also looking for that particular style of car.

All the bids were real.. If Bob wanted to he could have driven up the price. The buyers were expecting it to be near 1 million (so they said).

Keep in mind that this is one of the highest amounts (if not THE highest) ever paid for a customized Musclecar.

The Motion bidding last year seemed "odd" to me. Also heard a rumor that the real owner was Craig Jackson and that he bought the car at SEMA for between 300 and 400 thousand $$$.. Just something I heard.

Bob took the lower than expected final price with class. I'm sure he would have wanted more, but the car did achieve it's goal of being the baddest musclecar on the planet.

And his next project is looking VERY cool...

You don't build cars like that for a profit.. especially when you pay for the labor. You build it to set goals and hope to break evenish.

Not sure what Bob has in the car but my guess is that it's closer to 1 million than to 500,000..

Steve1968LS2 01-21-2007 12:50 PM

Oh, and don't feel bad for Bob.. feel bad for the guy that sold "THE LAST STINGRAY"

I heard they were expection MILLIONS (like 3) and that car sold for $650ish..
