Vegas69 02-06-2008 01:00 PM

When it gets here.:unibrow: My friends ask me that all the time and < that is my answer.

awr68 02-06-2008 03:25 PM

Looks awesome!! Sure have been a lot of cars in paint booths lately!!

Rybar 02-06-2008 07:12 PM

That is going to be one badass machine when done. Looks killer

navyflyer72 02-09-2008 06:12 AM

Black Muscle in Vegas... hmmm to say that this is hot would be an understatement! haha... But seriously this '69 is looking HOT! Frank you guys rock!

Vegas69 02-14-2008 10:21 PM

Well the front subframe is in and welded, paint is almost finish buffed.......but I woke up yesterday and decided it was a bad move to use the stock sub in my car. So the boys at Prodigy are going to cut it out and the new DSE sub is going in!!
http://i200.photobucket.com/albums/a...rame_2_pic.jpg
This allows me to run a 275 up front and have a lower ride height than with the two inch drop springs.

Now the problem. I have to buy new headers, widen the front wheels, buy new tires, etc. :willy:
So my kick ass Lemons Headers are for sale and my freshly restored front sub tricked out with all DSE's finest is for sale. The pits have been filled and she has a fresh coat of paint. Headers are $1425 shipped and I need to think about the sub.

awr68 02-14-2008 10:43 PM

Sell Rupp the frame for his new car...

I thought you said DSE uses those headers for their builds? Are you sure they won't work?

In the end you know you made the right choice!! ;)

Already tried to sell it to Rupp. Haha Well they have with a stock sub. I called Dan Lemons and he said they will not clear the steering shaft or lower control arm mount. Since they are built to clear the steering gear and now I will have a rack. He has different jigging for the new DSE sub. I plan to call Lemons and DSE in the morning to triple check and place my new order for headers. Lot's of interest in the headers already. They should be sold this week. It's the only major change I have made midstream, so I guess I get one mulligan.

awr68 02-14-2008 10:52 PM

One major change is way under par...certainly you can dream up others!! ;)

Vegas69 02-14-2008 10:57 PM

One thing getting screwed around by my old builder did was give me plenty of time to plan, research, and plan some more. Interior is about all that is still up in the air. Have seats picked out, my DSE scheme is done and the guages are bought. Steering wheel and column are also bought. Door panels, rear seat, and stereo are the major decisions left. Roll bar is in but needs finished.

awr68 02-14-2008 11:08 PM

Yeah the interior is a very personal deal...I tend to keep them fairly factory and very usable. Updated seats are a must though! Since you have a roll bar I would stay with the performance feel/style...leave the mega-buck leather interiors for the smoothed over cruisers....I like them, I just don't think they blend well with a street fighter type build.

skatinjay27 02-15-2008 07:15 AM

lol todd didnt you just say last week , at this point theres no adding to the budget!!! :unibrow: :unibrow: you crazy man!!! thats gonna be sweet!!! the stock sub did seem out of place with your build though...

Vegas69 02-15-2008 09:04 PM

I called Frank and said talk me out of it. Didn't happen. Just like Frank said "You're all in" I knew it was the right decision but my credit card is chapped:lol: I am going to be so glad I did it once the car is rolling down the road. You have to think about resale when you build these cars. As much as we all want to think we will never sell our labors of love, they will go down the road eventually.
Anthony, I agree on the interior. I am mixing old and new anyway so it won't be to far from stock.
Ordered my new Lemons headers this morning. Dan Lemons nominated me for customer of the year.

Vegas69 02-17-2008 09:15 PM

Was going to wait until the paint was fully cut and polished but what the hell. Had a couple requests due to wheel purhcases. Here you go guys! Think the tires are to small?

Vegas69 02-17-2008 10:21 PM

Rybar 02-18-2008 02:56 PM

skatinjay27 02-18-2008 09:53 PM

Vegas69 02-18-2008 10:23 PM

Vegas69 02-18-2008 10:35 PM

The jury is still out. Not looking for something annoyingly loud.

skatinjay27 02-18-2008 10:37 PM

i would just go with big pipe and magnaflows then... not too loud and should flow enough for that monster you call a motor!!!lol
but im pretty sure its not gonna be easy toning that thing down!

Spiffav8 02-19-2008 12:16 AM

When are we going to see more pictures?

anxious!

Vegas69 02-27-2008 05:53 PM

The subframe went in last week! The paint is all buffed out and they are working on final assembly, roll bar/seat belts, and the dash insert now. It will be on the way to Vegas within a couple weeks!:D I am going to send the front wheels out when it gets here to widen them .5 inches so I can get my 275's up front.

Vegas69 02-28-2008 09:41 AM

I think Frank is ready to have my car out of his life and get paid. It's so close to being done. Definitely in the home stretch and I am very excited to get started on brakes, wiring, engines, interior, fuel, :D

Exactly:yes:

Spiffav8 03-05-2008 09:07 AM

Aj and I keep talking about your car while we reassemble mine. We can't imagine how careful you have to be not to scratch anything on that car! :_paranoid

Vegas69 03-05-2008 10:05 AM

Your not kidding. I have plans for that and it's my first order of business. A combination of plastic, blankets, and fender cover should do the trick. I am in no hurry, otherwise I'll be back stuck on the couch or in front of the monitor every night again. All my friends are like I'll help you....the problem is they like to drink a 12 pack while doing it. Most all will be done solely. I'll be more likely to call you guys since you have experience.

I used a car cover for all but the area I'm working on and it's done a great job of keeping the car clean. It might sound kind of odd but I've used layers of blue painters tape to cover areas we are working on/around, to keep scratches and minor dings to a minimum and had great success. I keep Red Bull in the fridge for the guys but no beer. That's just asking for trouble! Figure I'll have a BBQ for everyone that helped when we're done and they can drink all they want then.

I'm more than willing to lend a hand so just say when.

Vegas69 03-05-2008 03:07 PM

Yep....have two big rolls of painter tape too. I'll get in touch with you and AJ when I know the delivery date.

awr68 03-05-2008 06:09 PM

exciting stuff!! can't wait to see some pics in the LV sun!!

Vegas69 03-05-2008 06:46 PM

You and me both.....

skatinjay27 03-05-2008 06:52 PM

im not really a drinker so you dont have to worry about that...
but i am a lil scared to work on you car due to the fresh big$$$ paint job. but im sure if you go overboard on protecting it youll be fine... i pretty good at being extra carefull since my car is already painted and so is curtis's and ive been fine with both of them...
todd do you have my #?
