Exhaust Question

Sweet truck, awesome fab work.

Where did you buy the SS oval pipe for the exhaust? Was that from Stainless Works as well?

Thanks!

907rs 12-01-2005 07:38 AM

I've always like that truck. The extent of fab work is just short of amazing.

syborg tt 12-02-2005 10:35 AM

Well I've finally ordered my Wheels and I am shocked how Fast they turned this order into a reality. Kevin over at Billet Specialties really took care of me.

Here is the new wheel

You can see that they haven't welded the back side yet. I want to make sure they are perfect

I learned long ago it's not what you know it's who you know. I can't tell you how much i appreciate Troy's help and Billet Speciaties help with these wheels. The good thing is the Billet Specialties is only 15 minutes from my office.

12-03-05 Update

Dave mounted the air system while I was on Vacation and it looks exactly like I wanted to look.

http://www.sportmachines.com/albums/..._12_03_049.jpg

It's mounted on a tubular chassis so it will remain on the chassis when the cab and the bed are removed

http://www.sportmachines.com/albums/..._12_03_054.jpg

Here is the top view

http://www.sportmachines.com/albums/..._12_03_076.jpg

syborg tt 12-04-2005 08:39 PM

You can see my idea for the bed and I couldn't be happier with it.

http://www.sportmachines.com/albums/..._12_03_064.jpg

This is the frame work that will support the new bed floor.

syborg tt 12-04-2005 08:40 PM

Brakes - What can i say. Precisions Brakes did and awesome job on them. This is the final front brake caliper and it is an exact match for the rear caliper something we need it we are going to show the truck.

http://www.sportmachines.com/albums/..._12_03_001.jpg

Rear Brakes going on.

http://www.sportmachines.com/albums/..._12_03_014.jpg

http://www.sportmachines.com/albums/..._12_03_020.jpg

syborg tt 12-04-2005 08:41 PM

The exhaust is almost finished all we need to do is cut the end of the tailpipe.

http://www.sportmachines.com/albums/..._12_03_029.jpg

You can see the transition from the round to oval tailpipe. I think Dave did and incredible job joining the two pieces.

http://www.sportmachines.com/albums/..._12_03_030.jpg

If we need, we will now be able to remove the mufflers.

http://www.sportmachines.com/albums/..._12_03_032.jpg

syborg tt 12-04-2005 08:41 PM

Moving on to the front suspension. I installed the Bear Tracker Tie Rod ends and sleeve. What a nice piece.

http://www.sportmachines.com/albums/..._12_03_024.jpg

A quick picture of the trans pan installed and check for clearance issue's

http://www.sportmachines.com/albums/..._12_03_056.jpg

syborg tt 12-04-2005 08:42 PM

I saved the best for last "the Wheels". The tool that we used for mock up was perfect. It nailed the offset on the front wheels on the first try. I can't wait to do another truck.

http://www.sportmachines.com/albums/..._12_03_003.jpg

Here is what the truck is going to look like when the air suspension is deflated.

http://www.sportmachines.com/albums/..._12_03_004.jpg

There is a minor vlave stem clearence issue which can easily be resolved with a set of low profile valve stems from Weld Wheels.

http://www.sportmachines.com/albums/..._12_03_010.jpg

No clearence issues on the rear wheel.

http://www.sportmachines.com/albums/..._12_03_021.jpg

we decided to go with the sticky outy look on the wheels.

http://www.sportmachines.com/albums/..._12_03_022.jpg

No really once the tires are mounted we will narrow the rear diff.

That's it for this week. I've got a bunch of parts to order and I need to get the wheels back to Billet Specialties so they can weld them up for me.

XcYZ 12-05-2005 05:49 AM

Wow, those brakes look massive.

syborg tt 12-06-2005 05:08 AM

Need some advise as i am torn between two fuel delv set up's

1. Stealth Tank with one Aeromotive A1000 Pump

or

2. Stealth Tank with dual in tank walboro pumps

The truck is only going to have 600hp on pump gas and 750hp on race gas. I am aware that i am at the limit of both systems at 750hp.

The truck main purpose is to drive the power tour and to local cruise nights.

black2002ls 12-08-2005 07:18 AM

If given the option, I'm all for an external pump. Keeps from having to tear into the tank if pump problems were to arise.

TravisB 12-08-2005 07:27 AM

I would go with the external...however I have heard good things about the internal style staying cooler due to the fuel cooling it!

syborg tt 12-08-2005 09:36 AM

yep i have heard the same about internal pumps. Not really sure what to do.

TEDDYS CAMARO 12-08-2005 04:41 PM

I have had good luck with Aeromotive fuel pumps. I also am going with a stealth tank with an Aeromotive pump. I am pretty sure if you call Ricks Hot Rod Shop, he can give you all the information that you will need.

syborg tt 12-11-2005 09:19 PM

12-11-05 Update.

Working on a new fuel cell.
Looks like we are going to use the external pumps that I have.
One on each side of the tank meeting in the middle at a "Y" block.

http://www.sportmachines.com/albums/..._12_11_018.jpg

The tank will sit between the new frame rails which is two inches narrower then the old tank ;-(

http://www.sportmachines.com/albums/..._12_11_019.jpg

In order to get a little more fuel capacity the tank is built around a frame support.

http://www.sportmachines.com/albums/..._12_11_020.jpg

Here is what the tank looks like removed from the truck

http://www.sportmachines.com/albums/..._12_11_021.jpg

I want to thank Scott Husner for the Box.
He shipped me the first prototype Sonoma GT cladding in it.
